We had the good fortune of connecting with Actor Felix Martinsson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Felix, what do you think about risk-taking?
Risk-taking is essential for anyone who wants to grow and reach their goals. If you don’t take risks and try something you normally wouldn’t do, you would never find out if it works for you or not, and then you will never know what path to take and decision to make next, which means you’ll be stuck and you won’t get to where you want! There’s NO success without struggles and failure, so we gotta teach ourselves to find ways to use this. As an actor, I know I do my best work when I let go of all control and take those risks. You just have to get used to that scary feeling of “maybe I’ll make a fool out of myself” and “maybe this will turn into a disaster”, sometimes it does happen but then I try to tell myself, “okay, good, at least I tried and now I know it didn’t work, so let’s find out what does”. It takes practice and lots of confidence, but I like a challenge.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As any actor I want to tell stories, give voice to characters that need to be heard. Personally I love characters – people with personas who stand out in some way. These are the type of roles I’m drawn to, especially the misunderstood, and I think anyone who’s seen my work can tell this. I hope to not only entertain, but to tell important more serious stories leaving people curious and wanting more. Definitely keep an eye out for Erin, which has had a successful run in a variety of festivals and I’m very proud of that project. I just finished filming my second Swedish short film, everything I’ve done on screen so far has been in English, so this was a lot of fun. Both should be released this year, so keep an eye out. The road to where I am today has been very bumpy, a lot of ups and downs, I worked really hard to set up a path for the future, with some success. I’ve grown a lot as an actor and individual, I’m much stronger and confident and I’ve managed to work on some pretty cool projects in both Film, TV and commercials. Unfortunately like a lot of people in the middle of this pandemic, I’ve hit a few red lights. But this also helped me recharge my batteries and find new strategies that I’m constantly working on and can’t wait to try out once the restrictions are lifted. If this pandemic has taught me anything, it’s definitely the importance of slowing down and living moment to moment. I started a Podcast where I talk more about the impact of the pandemic as well as my work and my life experiences. “Let’s make a Podcast” is available on Spotify and Apple Itunes, so far I’ve only released 2 episodes, but I plan to create more content in the near future. I had to put it aside, because It got really busy with auditions and work, which I’m super thankful for, and now I’m excited to see where this takes me, and I feel more ready than ever.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I definitely recommend Los Feliz, it’s my favorite place to hang, with lots of good food, coffee and a nice atmosphere. Definitely check out “Little Dom’s” and “Spitz”, grab something to eat and drink then walk up to Los Feliz Blvd and find the hiking trail to Griffith. That’s the perfect Sunday right there. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A lot of people influence and inspire me. So I feel the need to mention at least a few. As for work, I look up to so many actors, directors and other industry professionals. Some names worth mentioning are Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix, because – WOW, what a combo! Then Myles Yaksich, that I’m sure you will all see and hear more about in the near future . I worked with him on two projects and I can’t wait until our next one.  In my everyday life, my family, friends and my beautiful girlfriend Anna who inspires and pushes me everyday. They deserve all the shoutouts in the world.
