We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Zugell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I believe that creating daily habits and sticking to them have helped me achieve success. Often, it’s doing the hard things even when I don’t want to. It’s definitely a process and requires dedication, but I believe anyone can do the things they want to achieve if they begin by cultivating a positive mindset, and adhering to daily habits that lead to success. Some of my daily habits include: waking up early to make sure my to-do list is in order, and get my thoughts focused; I make time to exercise even when I don’t feel like it; I eat healthy and nourish my body with proper nutrients and organic (mostly) whole foods; I try to keep to a sleep schedule; I do my best to surround myself with inspiring, thought-provoking company, and I find time for FUN!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Coming from a dance background, I’ve been dancing since I can remember. Learning everything from Jazz, Ballet, Ballroom to Slovenian Folk dance (my heritage!), I have come to share my truest passion for dance and fitness with others. My passion for dance and fitness enabled me to seek innovative and effective techniques for my training. I’ve trained in a variety of fitness practices to keep up with fitness trends, best practices, and continued “fit-spriation!”

I believe there is nothing more wonderful in the world than helping and watching people achieve what they thought was probably impossible – all while having FUN doing it! I do my best to instill positive energy in others to take the “work” out of working out. I infuse my heart and soul into every movement. I aim to inspire the amateur, challenge the expert, and unite all through an energetic cardio dance workout meant for everyone!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were coming to visit, I would make sure they had the best time ever! A few places that they make the list for sure: a tour of Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier, and a drive up the PCH with some pit-stops at Paradise Cove, Neptune’s Net, and Duke’s! We would make our way to Santa Barbara and have a winery tour for sure! We’d hop on a ferry and jet over to Catalina Island for more adventures and sight-seeing. We would make a point to eat some delicious seafood at The Lobster Trap. The trip wouldn’t be complete without Disneyland – everyone needs a little Goofy in their life! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a huge shoutout to my entire fitness family – they give me so much inspiration and exhilarate my soul! I wouldn’t be complete without my one and only, Ayal Lebow, who is always there to encourage me, and be my biggest cheerleader.
