We had the good fortune of connecting with Patrice Royal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Patrice, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?

One of my favorite quotes that keeps me striving is “Life is what you make it, make it beautiful”. This affirmation is a constant reminder that no matter what life throws my way; my reaction to the action determines the reaction. So, I must make sure my next move is my best move and make sure it’s beautifully done. What I admire about this quote is that it reminds the reader to take accountability for their current situation and know it’s their doing. Rather being good or bad it’s never to late to make it beautiful.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My passion for modeling has not just begun. I literally eat, sleep, pray, and walk this journey. My everyday thought is what can I do to help my self get in a better position than what I was in yesterday. From the food I eat. Which is not a easy task due to the fact I love everything your typical model should not want to eat. To the amount of hours I sleep. Which majority of the time I’m forcing myself to sleep because my mind is thinking of my next photo shoot, or how to perfect my walk, to what workout should I be doing. I pray daily for my modeling career. I am a firm believer that I am one day closer to becoming one of the worlds best international supermodels! I am beyond proud of the model I’ve become from the model I once was. I see the growth and the steps that I’m taking to make sure I’m giving my all to this journey. What makes me the proudest is knowing the obstacles in the hurtles I’ve overcome and I’m still running this race with my head held high. I honestly got to where I am today with nothing other than allowing God to direct my path. Placing me at the wrong casting with the right people and allowing me to network and build healthy relationships that are needed in this profession. I can honestly say, this has yet to be one of the hardest journeys I’ve ever faced in my life. Everything that I once had is gone. From the friends I started with, to the place I lived, to the mentality I have, all the way down to my faith. This journey has gracefully broken me. It’s far from easy but I honestly wouldn’t change it for nothing in this world. I’ve learned the meaning of “ if it doesn’t challenge you it won’t change you”! The only way I know for a fact that this was the only way I could’ve ever overcame this is with the grace of God. The lessons I’ve learned along the way was absolutely nothing is permanent. Anything and everything will change. Allow your self to focus on the moment and not tomorrow because tomorrow is not promised! It makes me think of someone saying, one way to make God laugh is to think your in control. I want the world to know that even though I’ve been seriously going at this for the last five years, it’s still feels like the beginning. God willing, I’m no where near finished. This is not the last of me. The world will know my name, internationally!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

If I had a friend come and visit me for a week the itinerary would be epic. We’ll rent out a house off the beach. Starting on a Sunday (Sunday Funday) we’ll begin the day with a Sunday service at my church. After church we’ll go out to brunch at a restaurant call The Court Cafe. Then go to Broadway to see the low riders and old school cars. Go to the beach house for Sunday dinner. Monday comes and we’ll start the day off with some yoga on the beach. Have breakfast, get dressed and start the day. Go to a nail shop then get massages. For lunch we’ll go to Roseco’s then to a paint class. For dinner we’ll have my friend Chef Indo come and prepare dinner for us. Tuesday come well start the day with a walk on the beach. We’ll have Chef Indo prepare a breakfast for us. Head to Beverly Hills and do some shopping. Go pick up my grandma and go to El Toritos for Taco Tuesday. Get my Grandma full and take her home. Go back to the house and watch the sun set. Wednesday, see what my friend would like to do and if anything have a rest day at the beach. Thursday take a boat to Catalina Island and ride jet skis. Have dinner there and heard back to the beach house. Friday, we’ll invite some family and friends over and have a gathering at the beach house. End the night with a bonfire and s’mores. Saturday, rest and get ready to check out. That sounds like a beautiful week to me!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I would first love to give a shoutout and shine the brightest light on God, the most high! I wanna thank God for giving me the passion, courage, and determination to pursue my dreams. Thanking God for opening up every door possible that allowed me to get to the level of success that I’m currently in right now and that’s yet to present its self. Secondly, I wanna shoutout and give recognition to my supporters! To the ones that took time out of their day and spent money to come see me in a show. To the ones that didn’t just lurk on my page but actually liked my post, commented, or even shared my pictures. I truly appreciate that! I wanna give a shout out to VoyageLA for including me in not one but two articles. Thank you for the platform you guys have created to show the world all the hidden gems that’s pursuing their dreams. This is extremely a big deal. I truly appreciate VoyageLA!! Last but not least, I wanna give thanks to the doubters, the haters, and the negative people out here.
