Meet Margeaux Sippell: Singer-Songwriter & Journalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Margeaux Sippell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Margeaux, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I know to keep going because I still have something to say through my art. I love that hopeful feeling when I write a song and it has so much potential. I also love working and collaborating with other musicians and seeing what they bring to a song that I never would have thought of. The journey from song idea to realized recording is such an amazing process that never gets old. And I know not to give up because it doesn’t matter so much to me what the outcome is after releasing the song — it’s more about the journey of creating it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve always had these two loves — music and writing. They definitely go hand in hand, because for me the most natural part of songwriting is the lyrics, whereas the chords and the melody take more thought. My “day job” is as a film and television reporter for MovieMaker Magazine, which I love so much because not only do I love writing lyrics and poetry, but I love getting into the details and facts of nonfiction writing and reporting. Being a reporter satisfies the academic side of me, while having a solo career as a musical artist gives me the creative outlet I love so much, and a reason to be in the spotlight for a change. I love getting to do both. One day I’d like to do music full time, but the best part is I’ll never have to choose between my two passions.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love when friends visit Los Angeles because there’s so much to do and it’s such a unique city full of countless neighborhoods. When things open back up, I would take my best friend to my favorite bar in the entire world, Good Times at Davey Wayne’s in Hollywood. It feels like being transported to a 70s house party through a time machine. My favorites restaurants are Musso & Frank’s, Crossroads, Dan Tana’s, Pace, and El Compadre. And for a delicious vegan lunch, Sugar Taco! We’d take a walk through Griffith Park, window shop on Melrose, and take a drive up to Malibu and go to El Matador beach. I also love to take people to the Laurel Canyon Country Store to see some rock n’ roll history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my dad, who always believed in me and made me feel like I could do anything I set my mind to. I also dedicate it to my partner, Dash, who encourages me every day and reminds me of how much potential I have even when I forget.
