We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexa Ferr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexa, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This is often a question that many independent artists like myself, entrepreneurs and people with big dreams sometimes ask ourselves. What usually helps me over come this, is to remember why I’m doing what I do, what inspires me and if I am still enjoying myself while doing it. A lot of the time, when we feel like we should give up, is the exact moment a new door opens and things start to fall into place!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a singer/songwriter/producer from Toronto, currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. I moved out here to pursue a career as an Artist, but over the years, I’ve developed and picked up on several other forms of art, however I mainly stick to these three. Over the years, I’ve been blessed to be around pretty incredible artists, songwriters and producers and over time I picked up on tips here and there. I was also introduced and mentored on producing by someone very special to me who changed my life as an artist overall. He taught me how to produce, and overall what the business side of everything in the industry is like. It was not an easy road along the way, but it was one well worth the ups and downs. I’ve learned to always stay true to myself, and continue to put the work in and believe in myself, because if I don’t, how can I expect anyone else to see the star in me? Also that whatever you put out into the universe, you get back so that’s why I always strive to be a better person everyday and learn from my mistakes. I want the world to know that my brand is all about be authentically yourself. I’m not perfect and I definitely come with flaws, but I am always staying true to myself,

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area. the first thing we would do is grab some drinks or get our nails done! Next day is driving to melrose and going shopping, eating at Tatsu in West Hollywood then grabbing some frozen yogurt on the way home. We will definitely need to go to the beach on day 3 (preferably Malibu) and we can dine at Café Habana while we sip on a few drinks, then head back to my place for a chill night! Day 4 we wake up, go for a hike, either go to the fashion district downtown or go straight for some sushi or vegan food! Hopefully with things slowly opening back up in LA, we can make day 5 all about six flags and after dinner and drinks! Day 6 and 7 will be filled with a few events (day parties, pop ups, etc) followed by lunch/dinner at Tao, Javier’s and or Katsuya in Hollywood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A major shout out for me goes to my parents for supporting me and my big dreams since I was a kid! I wouldn’t be half the woman or artist that I am today if it wasn’t for their constant support, love, and great morals they’ve taught me! There’s so many people to name but everyone I have ever worked with, good and bad experiences, shaped me into who I am so I am very thankful for them as well!
