Meet Ben Nobile: Screenwriter/Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ben Nobile and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ben, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
Don’t get to highs at the highs. All this is telling me is to be afraid to happy now because you know at some point you’re going to be sad later. That’s not living in the moment or taking advantage of the moment. Life is so short and we all seem to have a problem being proud of ourselves. We want validation from people and constantly work to impress others. No matter what job you have, you’re always trying to impress someone else, but what about yourself? At some point in time, we make a conscious decision to pursue a job and along with that comes goals, but if you’re always trying to impress other people and look past your own thoughts, I don’t think you can ever really feel fulfilled. That’s why I believe that if you have put a lot of work into something and you’re happy with the results, celebrate it. Be proud of your accomplishments, yeah there’s always more work to be done and you have to keep going but if you keep working towards the next thing without acknowledging what you’ve already done, then you’re never going to feel like you’ve accomplished anything when you have. So celebrate your highs, enjoy them. That’s the best part of life so don’t skip it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m excited that I have a real chance to be able to influence and entertain people. I’m big into studying subjects like psychology, I’m obsessed with it actually. I try to take that and implement it into everything I write in some way. Having a deep understanding of how our minds work not only helps me write authentic characters but it will allow the audience to feel connected. Honestly I don’t know how I got to where I am today. The right people just seem to take a chance on me at the right times. It’s incredibly hard to get people to take a chance on you in this industry let alone when you’re in your 20s. So when people give me a shot to work with them, I work tirelessly to let them know that it was the right decision. The best part is the more you prove that you’re a great investment, the easier everything else becomes. I’ve learned to stay patient. Nothing happens overnight. Have the ability to listen well and take notes. There will always be something you don’t see that someone else will that can drastically change your work for the better, so listen to what everyone has to say. I just want the world to know I can’t wait to get more content out there for people to enjoy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well I’m a dork so when my friends visit we go to all the amusement parks first. Disney, Universal, and Six flags. I could live at any of them I love them all so much. Love going on hikes in any of the Studio City trails, they’re all beautiful. If you’re visiting you have to see Santa Monica and spend some time by the water obviously. A few of my favorite restaurants just closed unfortunately so I have to find new ones.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’ve had a lot of help from great people to get me to where I am now, but no one deserves more recognition than my Mom. It all starts with her, she always encouraged me to follow my dreams and for that I couldn’t be more grateful. She always knows exactly what to say and exactly when I need to hear it. I think she’s a superhero. My Dad is a big supporter too, I just got dealt a lucky hand when it comes to that. Because of them I’ve always been able to be my authentic self. Other essential shoutouts are Martha, Mr.Childress, Alex, other Alex, and Andrew. I don’t know what I’d do without these people by my side every step of the way. I want to be successful for them.
