Meet Tina Mirka

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Mirka and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tina, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I knew that I wanted to pursue acting from a very young age. I always had a highly active imagination. As other kids would play during recess, I often found myself daydreaming about all of the things I could become in life. Later on, I was able to funnel this curiosity into learning how to play different characters. And even to this day, there is little that fulfills me more than getting to delve into characters living lives so different from my own. But at the end of the day, you realize that we’re all not so different at our cores.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Many of my favorite projects are period pieces, and one of my first larger roles was an early 1900s migrant farmer in “The Measure of a Man” (previously on Netflix). There’s just something about the process of delving into a character living in a completely different time and exploring what their worldview must have been like.

I started acting when I was about 10, and I have been auditioning and taking classes somewhat regularly through the years. It certainly has not been an easy or linear journey. Patience and persistence are truly a virtue in this kind of industry. But one thing that keeps me going is reminding myself of the reasons I got into it in the first place. I prefer to instead focus on the positive impact that my own art can have on others.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
