Meet Nicole Kaplan and Heidi Webster | Hosts of The Pink Lemonade Stand Podcast

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Kaplan and Heidi Webster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nicole Kaplan and Heidi Webster, what do you attribute your success to?
Our motto is “Squeeze the Day!”. Whether it’s one of our guests or our listeners, if we make someone smile, laugh, and forget their troubles for an hour, then we have done our job. On our podcast, the Pink Lemonade Stand, we interview people who were able to find the sweet in the sour and maintain their zest for life. One of the things that we’ve enjoyed so much is hearing how our listeners have benefited from hearing our guest’s lemons to lemonade stories. It’s been amazing to watch the podcast grow, and it’s really a testament to how helpful it is for people who are going through tough times to know they’re not alone.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
We’ve been best friends for a long time. We met in Las Vegas, where we both starred in the award-winning Broadway review, Showstoppers, at Wynn Las Vegas. We’ve worked together and performed together for the last few years and even traveled the world together. Then 2020 hit, which we can agree was a dumpster fire of a year. Personally, we both lost our jobs as performers, and we know that others have had it far, far worse. But being natural optimists, we decided to try and refocus on the good—being unemployed, we certainly had the time! We thought, how can we put something into the world that brings people some joy? 2020 can’t just be about fear and anxiety, so how can we make this period in our lives truly meaningful? The Pink Lemonade Stand podcast was the result—it’s a creative outlet, a time to connect, a time to learn, and a time to feel hopeful.
Putting the work into making something you’re passionate about is such a fun experience but, yes, everything has its challenges, and challenge is a topic we don’t shy away from at the Pink Lemonade Stand. We find we work really well together, so the hardest part is navigating things that aren’t in our control. One of our favorite seeds for the soul is the saying, “Blessed are the flexible, for they will not be bent out of shape.” Dealing with technical difficulties or navigating our guests’ schedules can be challenging, but once we decided to keep flexible attitudes, the rough parts seem much smoother.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
ExSqueeze Me? We love a chance to share the places we are obzest with in L.A.! Definitely take a trip to Randy’s Donuts, pet some exotic animals on the Malibu Wine Safari, come on down to a live taping of the Price Is Right, and have a cocktail at Shutters on the Beach near the Santa Monica Pier. For a gorgeous evening, head to The Inn of the Seventh Ray in Topanga Canyon to dine among the trees and the stars. We talk about our “obzessions” every week on the podcast, so tune in to stay up to date on our hot tips.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge shoutout to our guests, who so bravely and vulnerably share their stories, and to our listeners, who appreciate the chance to connect as much as we do. If it weren’t for them, we’d just be talking to ourselves! In this last year of isolation, it has been a gift to have meaningful conversations with people who inspire others.
