We had the good fortune of connecting with Sade Morris and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sade, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Hello, I am a writer, performer, and actress. You could say I have my hands in many bags.Literally.Growing up I loved trying all different activities and sports.Whatever I saw I wanted to learn about. My curiosity and impulsive actions often led me to taking big risks and following my dreams. When applying for colleges I knew I wanted to study theatre. But once I saw one of my best friends graduate and leave to NYC, I knew that’s where I was suppose to be.That same night she was accepted I made the decision to apply for colleges in New York city. That impulsive decision got me accepted at the New York campus of the American and Musical academy in 2019.While in my third semester at Amda , we were hit with the covid 19 pandemic.I went home to Florida and eventually London. But as soon as I heard my college was offering a hybrid course that fall, I was on a plane back to New York city. A lot of my friends were unsure about returning back to the campus so soon, but I knew there were opportunities waiting for me. Similarly that same semester, I handed over one of my scripts to my friend Serrin Joy for her “Deep In” interlude short film for her youtube page. I wanted opportunities to show my work and inspire others. I went back and not only did I finish my course I auditioned and was cast as the title character in the play ‘ Ady”.I auditioned for that show on a whim.I was still in college but auditioned anyway, because I knew I could handle any work that came my way. “Ady” will be streamed at the Voices of Hope Festival April 26th, a festival sponsored by Carnegie Hall. Recently I made another impulsive decision to create my own web series. “Graduates:the web series” will premiere this Summer. We are in early productions but I am so excited for people to see my work.I wrote the script last year and will also star in the series. My impulsive actions lead me to seize all the great opportunities that come my way. Don’t think about it.Just do it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am starring in a new play called Ady. I am playing the title role Ady. The performance will premiere at the Voices of hope festival sponsored my carnegie hall. I am also shooting my web series graduates in May and it is slated for a August release. I also have my youtube channel, ” I am Folasade” and you can catch up with all of my content on there.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to time square and we would have a meal at Dallas BQQ. The following day I would take them down to Harlem and have them catch a meal at my favorite caribbean restaurant, caribbean star. There is also a beautiful pier around 72nd street on Freedom avenue with a nice salad from the takeout spot just salad
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
