We had the good fortune of connecting with The Ford Sisters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Ford Sisters, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The two most important factors behind our success are having a clear vision and knowing our “why”. When all three of us are aligned to a specific outcome, more often than not we achieve it. When we know and agree on our outcome, it amazingly frees up space for us to enjoy the process of getting there. When our outcome is not clearly defined, the journey always contains more obstacles and is in general, more painful. Therefore, success for us is not just about reaching a particular goal, but finding happiness in progress and enjoying the journey. Having a clear vision is the key.
In addition, knowing “why” we want to do a certain project and being aligned in our “why”, gives us the fuel to be successful in it. Sometimes we have multiple “why’s”. We always discuss our “why’s” before we undertake any project. We remind each other of our “why’s” when we get off course or experience an obstacle.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a trio of sisters who started out as professional dancers here in Los Angeles. We recently shifted into the music industry because it was becoming increasingly difficult to find upbeat music that we connected to. Our generation struggles with connection and depression, which is amplified by the music being produced today. We are overwhelmed with music that expresses our sadness and glorifies sex, drugs and money. We believe you are what you listen to. Therefore, we have created music that not only makes you want to get up and dance, but also reconnects you to your happiness.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When our friends visit us in LA, the first thing they want to do is go the beach. One of our favorite places to take them, is Paradise Cove in Malibu. Not only is the beach private, but you can dine outside with your feet in the sand. Our favorite thing to order is what we call the “bucket salad” because it is large enough to feed 10 people. Another unique place to visit is the Huntington Library, which has the most amazing botanical gardens. The Cactus Garden is huge and feels like it belongs on another planet. We also like to take our friends to the La Brea Tar pits, just because they are pretty cool and you can’t see that sort of thing anywhere else. Finally, we always take our friends to our home away from home–The Playground LA–for a dance class. They know when they visit us a trip here is inevitable.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would like to give a shout-out to Tony Robbins and his Mastery team. During the pandemic lock-down, we were fortunate enough to virtually attend several of Tony Robbins Mastery Events including: Date with Destiny, Life Mastery and Business Mastery. These events were life-changing not only in our business and for our careers, but also in every area of our lives. We have discovered (and gotten rid of) many limiting beliefs. We have learned that life happens for us, not to us. Thank you Tony Robbins for helping us design a compelling future!
