We had the good fortune of connecting with Courtney Titus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Courtney, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
My business helps the world by helping woman step into their best selves, physically, mentally and emotionally. I do this through nutrition, understanding the menstrual cycle, creating a self-care practice and leading life with pleasure. Our society is built on very patriarchal ideals of what our lives should look like. Teaching women how to embrace, understand and love themselves goes against the norm. Every other commercial or billboard is telling women they are not enough without this product or service. And they are constantly criticized for being too anything, too fat, too thin, too loud, too shy, too bold, too outspoken, too emotional, too sexy, too natural, too fake, the list goes on. The media paints a picture that women are to be beautiful, fit, successful, run a household, while running a business and never burn out or have a hair out of place. We are trying to live up to unrealistic expectations. Embracing the feminine, focusing on self-care, and self-love will change the world. We are always looking outside of ourselves for what we need. I teach women to look within, understand your body versus constantly battle with it and this will improve relationships, businesses and households. Changing the world starts with growth and healing internally. Happy, nourished and balanced women will change the world.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Women’s Holistic Health and Empowerment Coach, I specialize in helping women live more balanced and healthy lives by teaching them about their bodies and the ins and outs of their hormones and the power of their periods. I take into account everything about their lives from stress, sleep, relationships, gut health, sex life and more. I currently offer private coaching and workshops, I am expanding into group programs and in person retreats this year. Women’s bodies are so misunderstood, by them, by their partners and by society as a whole. We are not seen for the badasses that we are, and there are so many misconceptions about the menstrual cycle. A woman’s cycle is so powerful and should be celebrated, not shamed! I am proud of having the tools and knowledge to help people transform their lives and health in a way that they aren’t going to find in the conventional medical system. Why Not Wellness was built on my personal life motto, “you say why? I say why not?” Why not feel great in your own skin? Why not feel confident and sexy? Why not feel healthy and strong? Why not live your best life? Why not enjoy and appreciate your period? Why not have great sex? Why not use your cycle to enhance all areas of your life?
There are tons of health coaches out there, but being a student at the School of Applied Functional Medicine sets me apart, this education has taught me how to read conventional lab work and map out symptoms to get to the root cause of diagnoses like hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, IBS, PMS, PCOS, depression and infertility. I also have six years of experience working in a clinical setting under board-certified physicians and I have lived through my own hormonal imbalances and learned how to overcome them naturally!
There definitely have been ups and downs on this journey. Moving to LA was very difficult for me at first. My whole family and all of my friends were still on the East Coast and starting a business in a brand new city was challenging, but this experience has humbled me and made me a much stronger person. I found a strong support system, called the Menstruati. We all work in women’s health and their support and friendship has been priceless. The advice I have for other women just starting their journey is to trust your intuition and focus on progress, not perfection, each and every step you can take toward your dream deserves to be celebrated.
I want the world to know that women are powerful beyond measure especially when they have embraced the healing journey, owned her feminine flow and lead life by desire. Women are goddesses and a force to be reckoned with,,, WHY NOT women?
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I LOVE nature and getting outside, when someone visits I always take them on a hike in Altadena area, usually to Millard Falls or somewhere in Malibu. The beach is always on the list, usually El Matador in Malibu and of course a stop for some indulgence food at Malibu seafood. I love eclectic cafes, and coffee shops, rooftop bars like Mama Shelter or those with an outdoor patio like Kings Row. Live music is also a love of mine so wherever there is a show, that’s where we will be, especially love reggae and classic rock. Gold Road Brewery is always on the list for the environment and the food! Always a road trip to Santa Barbara or Joshua Tree. I also enjoy Catalina Island, Laguna beach and taking them to thrift shops in these areas!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
