Meet Leo Gallo | Singer, Creator. Entertainer,

We had the good fortune of connecting with Leo Gallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leo, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I used to feel like I had to take on every single gig/opportunity that came my way. When you’re young, you think it’s the only way to gain exposure. In reality, it diminishes your worth and reduces the quality of what you really have to offer. Learning to say ‘no’ and negotiate rates that were equal to my worth, talent, and time was a game-changer. I began booking higher quality gigs, working with more reputable companies/people and found myself with more time to be creative for my own purposes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been in the industry since I was 13, so my art has definitely evolved over time. Dance was my first love, but music became my main focus and turned into my career. I think what sets me apart is that I’m really comfortable in my own skin. That sometimes makes people uncomfortable, but they usually come around!
My most proud moment was singing on stage at the Hollywood Bowl. That was a lifelong dream come true!
I’ve always had an unshakable belief in myself, so even when times were tough I kept it moving. I will say it hasn’t always been easy. Some projects have worked out, some have fallen short. As I’ve gotten older, it’s been important for me to work hard, stay consistent, and remain creative. Professionally speaking, I’m lucky to have the freedom to move in and out of various projects.
I think what I’d like people to know about me is that I enjoy lifting others up. We all deserve a chance and working together means we all win.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve travelled a lot, and I’m always happy to come home, I love LA!
Some things I always do when we have guests:
– Nature walk in Temescal Canyon
– Abbot Kinney for some shopping
– Forma on Montana – one of my favorite Italian spots
– A drive up the PCH – stopping for a picnic on the beach
– Drinks at SoHo Malibu
– Homecooked meal and wine at my house

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Special shoutout to my family! My mom created a platform for me to believe in myself. She’s always supported my dreams and creative energy. My brother Anthony, however, was there to push me to be better. He always expected (and still expects) more out of me. My brother Mike, reinforced all of the support and challenges, providing a level-head to bounce things off of. My partner, Carly, the person who helped me find the ‘no’ and advocate for myself. She inspires me and keeps me in check!
