Meet Naomi Hutchinson: Dancer, Yoga Teacher & Wellness Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Naomi Hutchinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Naomi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started Healthy+Well, my driving force was the desire to serve. I knew how important health and wellness was and I wanted to share the benefits of it with my community and serve them through my offerings. Beyond service, my other desire was freedom – freedom in my schedule and freedom in my finances. Knowing that my business can be anything I want to be gave me the courage to create my own lane and to sculpt a business that honors my wellbeing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Healthy+Well is your guide to holistic living with a mission to educate, encourage and empower everyone to live their best lives. We offer group yoga classes, workshops, and retreats to strengthen and support our community. For individuals who are looking to enhance their holistic health and wellness, we offer 1:1 coaching and personalized programs led by myself. Healthy+Well also provides services, such as wellness programming and yoga instruction for corporations and private events.
One of our main offerings and the one that I am most proud of is our Virtual Wellness Studio. It’s a space that provides you with tools to grow, expand and deepen self-care practices. There’s currently over 30 yoga and meditation classes, as well as our latest Well Within Workshop, available On-Demand in the Studio. Whether you have 5 minutes or an hour to practice self-care, there is a class available to you whenever you need it.
In the process of developing this business, it hasn’t been easy. There have been times that I’ve been discouraged by low turnout in classes but reminding myself that even if I only impact one person’s life, that’s enough, has kept me going. What also propels me forward is creating a business that has longevity. I save every single class I teach and every piece of content I create for Youtube, Instagram and our weekly newsletter – “The Scoop.” There’s a lot of value in this content and by archiving it appropriately, I’m able to monetize it and make residual income from it. This strategy is a bit like sowing seeds. You may not see the crops blossom right away but as long as you keep watering them, the seeds will grow and you’ll reap an abundant harvest at just the right time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So I absolutely love food & spending time in nature. If my best friend was in town, we would definitely go to brunch at Granville. Their “heavenly hotcakes” are indeed heavenly! We would then go to the beach. I have this little spot that I like to relax at a couple miles past Will Rogers Beach. It’s usually not too busy and I always enjoy my time there. Just in time for happy hour, we would drive over to Weho and grab some food and drinks at Laurel Hardware. The decor there is super cute and the food tastes amazing! Lastly, we would treat ourselves to some dessert at Ocean Prime. They have the best warm butter cake in town!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are 3 women who have given me so much support and knowledge on my entrepreneurial journey. The first two ladies are Koya Webb and Arianne Traverso. I took their Wellness Entrepreneur course when I was just starting my business and it helped me to really get clear on my vision and lay the foundation for Healthy+Well. Both women are successful wellness entrepreneurs who continue to redefine what it means to have a “yoga-based business.” The last woman who has poured into me immensely is Angie Franklin of Afro Yoga. This young woman is a boss. She not only knows her stuff but she also cares a lot about her clients and her community. I’m currently in her mastermind program called “Decolonize Your Teaching” and it’s awesome!
