Meet Alex Oceguera | Artist/ Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Oceguera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I would have to say the pure love and obsession for music. If you don’t truly love music and are in it for the wrong reasons, it won’t work out. Yea you might get a few hits here and there but when it comes to your music lasting, you have to truly be obsessed with your craft and enjoy it every step of the way no matter how hard or stressful it can get.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel what can set me apart from others is my branding and unique music style. I have combined grunge, indie, hip hop, indie folk, and some influences of EDM into my work. I have a wide range of music styles I truly enjoy listening to which has helped create my style.
I got to where I am through constant trust in myself and in my work. Through this initial belief, I have gotten multiple opportunities and success’s that follow along. At times it can be really hard but I have to constantly remind myself that this is truly what I love and what I want in life. Why live a life without doing something you love? I know a lot of people don’t have a choice or enough money but to an extent, life is a perception. It is how you perceive what makes you happy. If I have the opportunity to do something that brings me great joy but might be extremely hard at times, I’ll take it in a heart beat rather then taking an opportunity that wouldn’t make me happy at all.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had to take a new friend on a tour of my area, first place I would take them to is Victoria Gardens, the mall close to my house. I find myself working on my computer or just walking around with a coffee multiple times a week. Another day I would take them to this hike called the Etiwanda Preserve. It is not the most green and lushest hike, but man during the sunset, the land turns vibrant orange as the sun sets over Mt. Baldy. Honestly so thankful to have Mt. Baldy right by me. When it comes to eating, I would take them to my favorite ramen spot close by in Claremont CA called Menkoi Ramen. Place is too good. Also for shopping, I LOVE thrift shopping. I would take them this really cool thrift store called Deluxe also located in Claremont. Then I would take them to the best coffee place in town, Rad Coffee in Upland CA. One of the sickest coffee places around with the most creative drinks!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I give big shoutouts to my family, girl friend and friends for pushing me past my cycles of doubts. It can get hard to stay motivated but without my mom and dad, my girl friend Jazmine, and some of my closest friends including my biggest music mentor/ inspiration/ friend Leadr, I would not be pursing music the way I am now.
