We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige P. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

The simple answer to this question is that there is truly nothing else I have ever wanted to do with my life. There is nothing that fulfills me or inspires me in the way that music does. I vividly remember being a little girl sitting in waiting rooms and daydreaming about being the world’s first successful 6 year old pop star. While that obviously didn’t happen, it’s definitely telling about the dreams that I’ve always had and the way they’ve only grown stronger over the years.

My family is full of creative people and it would be rare to walk into the house and not hear music playing. My mom and brother share my musicality; my mom and brother both play the piano beautifully, and my brother also plays the alto saxophone. My dad may not be musically gifted (in fact, he’s rhythmically challenged…sorry Dad!), but he is an amazing writer and one of the most creative people I know, and I like to think that he passed down those qualities to me. I am so grateful that my parents always encouraged creativity and pushed us to experience music in so many ways. I learned to play several instruments growing up, though none of them stuck in the way that piano and guitar did. They encouraged me to audition for musicals, which resulted in some of my fondest memories like performing as Sandy in Grease and Belle in Beauty and the Beast. My mom also worked for the Smith Center for the Performing Arts in Las Vegas, NV for a decade, during which we saw all kinds of musicals and concerts– sometimes, several times each week. Being exposed to that art and creativity at such a high volume definitely amplified my dreams even further.

I’ve been so lucky to have so many people support me over the years and I have also been fortunate enough to have people who guide me through my career in a much more hands-on kind of way too. My good friend AJ Smets has become a key figure in my pursuits and in my life through our collaborations and with his vast knowledge and talents. I am beyond excited for everyone to hear everything that we are getting ready to share!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am so excited for what is coming next in my career. My latest single “Gone” featuring Maka was released on May 14th and the response has made me even more excited to release new music. “Gone” is so different from anything else I have released in the past, and I love where we went with it during the writing process. AJ and I wrote the song together– first, we wrote the first verse and hook, then Maka recorded his verse. Once his verse was completed, AJ and I were so excited and inspired, and the rest of the song was written and recorded by the end of that same day. I still get excited thinking about how fun it was to feel it all coming together into the final product that we are so proud of.

With the release of “Gone,” I also released my debut music video. Filming the visuals was one of the most fun things I have ever done and I am so proud of the way it turned out. I really have to thank our director Rachael Shapiro and AJ Smets for making it possible for me. Rachael’s vision was so beautiful and so inspiring, and she made it the most amazing experience. There were so many other amazing people involved and I am so beyond grateful.

It has been a long road to get to where I am today and I am very optimistic about where the journey will continue to take me. As I look back on the past several years, I can see how much I have grown in my songwriting, vocals, and confidence as an artist. Discovering myself and the music that I want to put out there has been a journey that I am not even close to done with, but it’s nice to see that I am going towards the direction I want now.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to AJ Smets, who has helped me enormously and been such an amazing friend. His talents are endless and his belief in me means the world! We make a great team and I can’t wait to see what big things we do.
