Meet Amy Rutledge | Actor, Meditation Guide, Ceramicist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Rutledge and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Id like to say the Artistic/Creative career chose me! As a small child I felt the profound special magic of performing and creating whether that was through singing, acting, dancing, playing the piano, or creating artwork. It was something that was always inherent within my being. My mom helped cultivate my love and drive by taking me to plays, shows, introducing me to music, and teaching me to create using many artforms. As I grew it only seemed natural to pursue an artistic creative career. Its something I cant live without and brings me great joy. I couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an Actor and I’m most excited about my Film Rent-A-Pal in which I co-star with Wil Wheaton. It was released this past fall by IFC Midnight internationally on Hulu and is now sold on Blue Ray and VHS!!
I am also a meditation instructor. This work has been so rewarding and healing for me especially this past year. It gave me a sense of purpose through the pandemic and a real way to help others relive their suffering.
I got to where I am today by a lot of hard work and mostly patience and trust in that what I wanted was on its way to me. I’ve done a lot of healing and self love work that was crucial in helping me to know I am worthy of that which I seek. That work has been paramount for me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My Favorite spots in the city:
I love the Huntington Library. Its so beautiful, packed with botanical gardens, and art museums. I feel like I am traveling the world with the Japanese, Chinese, and Australian gardens. its breathtaking and inspiring.
Griffith park is one of my favorite places to go to overlook the city and see the Hollywood sign.
Marina Del Rey is so chill and relaxing. They have Kayaks and stand up paddle boards for rent in the marina. Watching the boats and seals coming in and out of the marina is so beautiful its my favorite thing to do.
Topanga Canyon is my favorite spot for shopping for vintage goods and the drive from the PCH is super fun and beautiful

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would Like to dedicate my shoutout to my mom. She has paved the path for me in realizing and achieving my dreams. She has been my number one fan, my hero, and my support system. Her unconditional love and encouragement are unparalleled and I would not be here without her! Thank you mom I love you so much and am so grateful for you!
