We had the good fortune of connecting with Joseph Abell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joseph, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I learned to do everything myself. I didn’t take formal courses; I just learned as I went. I got into Excel because my income was growing. I learned CSS so I could redesign my website. I’ve also picked up Photoshop, CRM management, coding, and more. Today, I delegate a lot of work to others, from coaching to programming. But I only hand off jobs that I fully understand. That means I stay in perfect sync and can optimize every detail of my businesses.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
You can be tremendously skilled but unable to use your skill to make the world better or love the people around you. You are also constantly at risk of stagnation: a point where you simply stop growing. Those risks are forefront in my mind. That’s why the heart of Ace Peak’s coaching philosophy is one idea: “Character comes first.” We focus on training people to be self-generating, meaning they can identify the next steps to improve and then have the discipline to take them.

This is a lesson I learned first-hand. I won multiple national titles without financial or familial support. It wasn’t because I was exceptionally gifted, or the stars were properly aligned at my birth. It was because I had learned the value of hard work. Most of my early success, both in high school and in business, is due to simply out-working the competition.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Unfortunately, I moved to LA in the middle of a pandemic. So I have yet to experience all that this city has to offer. I will say this: you can’t go wrong at the beach. The Pacific Ocean is an awe-inspiring thing to stand next to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the two speech & debate leagues in which I competed: NCFCA and Stoa. They created an opportunity for me to hone the most valuable skills I have. They also train my associate coaches and create a sustained demand for our services.
