We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Haynes + Lisa Staugaard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara Haynes + Lisa Staugaard, what should our readers know about your business?

We started Iridium Interiors not only because we love vintage furniture, but because we value sustainability and the benefits it has for the environment. Our main goal is to reduce waste in the form of restoration and provide high-quality designs to our customers that will last a lifetime and beyond.

More people are beginning to recognize that the convenience of buying from big box stores has significant hidden costs that end up being paid for indirectly, especially by the environment. The reality is that products these days are not made or designed to last and we feel a responsibility to inform our community about the benefits of buying vintage or used.

Is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?  
We always encourage our customers to ask us questions about repairing, restoring and maintaining their furniture whether they bought the piece from us or not. Our view has always been to prioritize longevity over quick-fix solutions and to continue advocating the importance of buying locally from ethically conscious stores.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are located in Hawthorne, which is definitely under the radar compared to greater Los Angeles but here’s what a couple days might look like. We love food and think that the diversity of cuisines is unique about Southern California. For special occasions we love to go to Fishing with Dynamite in Manhattan Beach, they have delicious oysters, cocktails and the absolute best key lime pie – following that up with a walk along the beach is always great. In our neighboring town Lawndale, Ensenadas Surf & Turf is our favorite go-to lunch spot for crispy fish tacos. For Chinese comfort food, the dan dan noodles and dumplings at Northern Cafe are so good. When it’s a hot summer day, we like to treat ourselves to Honeymee or a beer at our local brewery, Common Space. What can we say we love food and just can’t stop thinking about the time post-pandemic when friends can visit and we can take them out to our favorite restaurants.
