We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Baker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jane, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was a high school dropout with no qualifications, I didn’t really have that many options. I had worked when I was 16 but didn’t stay in that job long, in fact less than 8 weeks later I was kindly asked to leave.

I fell pregnant at 18 but sadly she was stillborn at 32 weeks, I knew there was something bigger for me to do with my life I just didn’t know what that was. A few months later when I was 19 I woke up one morning and had a random idea for a business, the next hour it was up and running.

The thought process for me was mainly focused around I knew employment wasn’t for me, there was nothing I wanted to do traditional career wise and I knew I wanted to be in control of my own destiny so to speak and so a business was actually the most logical option and best suited for me and my future goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
I actually own multiple businesses, I’m building an empire!

All of my businesses however are in the sales or luxury market sector. My main focuses however are my sales agency where we handle high ticket sales for businesses of all shapes and sizes. My Luxury Brokerage, we specialise in selling and sourcing luxury goods (this spans all goods across the luxury market sector) for our high net worth clients. Finally my last main focus is my high ticket consultancy and strategy business. In this business I consult and strategise for businesses helping them leverage the high ticket model or improve their high ticket sales.

I got to where I am business wise by just doing, whilst most other people in my fields sat there and doubted their ideas, I just did it. I pitched to businesses that others had been perhaps thinking about but hadn’t actually taken action on. People always ask what my secret is and the answer is really pretty simple, I just do!

I’d totally be lying if I said it’s been an easy walk in the park, that’s definitely not the case. There’s been plenty of mistakes and lessons learnt, there’s been things that haven’t worked, there’s been blood sweat and tears put in to get to where I am today but the lessons are what’s important. For every set back or low moment there’s a lesson to be learnt.

I think the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is you actually do need to rest, I used to run on fumes working all hours everyday because I thought that resting was weak as such. If you’re not hustling you won’t be successful. I burntout and I actually did that a few times until the penny actually dropped. Rest isn’t a luxury, in fact rest is an integral part of your success.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so many things to do I’m not sure a week would be long enough!

So I’d definitely hit up Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura, purely because I haven’t been there myself yet but have seen it all over my TikTok FYP and I’m a sucker for things like that.

For a fun day out I’d head to Universal Studios Hollywood.

Baked Bear for ice cream sandwiches are my total fav!

Venice Beach of course and El Matador State Beach for amazing sunsets.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s so many people that have been part of my journey to where I am today, they definitely know who they are. I think the saying about it takes a whole village is so true, I used to think that wasn’t the case and tried to do it all on my own but discovered alone isn’t how it’s actually meant to be done.

The biggest influence and support has been my husband though, he’s my all time biggest cheerleader and whilst almost everyone else thought I was crazy he cheered me on, he’s supported me through all of my visions and ideas, he’s also picked me up in the moments where I’ve had wobbles or doubted myself even.

I wouldn’t have got to where I was without him, so the shout out would go to my husband.
