We had the good fortune of connecting with Andra Gheorghe & Roxana Parje and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andra Gheorghe & Roxana Parje, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
A creative career came to us naturally, and was rooted in our childhood. Growing up, my sister and I spent our time in the countryside at our grandparents’ farm. This was before the smart phones, cable TV or social media. Our grandmother taught us how to draw, so we started drawing and painting and writing stories about imaginary characters. Throughout the years, our passion to create stayed alive, we kept working on our skills, and naturally, we gravitated towards careers that would let us pursue these artistic paths.

What should our readers know about your business?
Horse On The Loose is an equestrian accessories shop based in Los Angeles, California and is run by two sisters designers. We are passionate about horses and want to highlight the uniqueness of various equestrian disciplines in our designs.

We are proud to offer modern designs that won’t break the bank. Our equestrian accessories are geared towards the modern equestrian, as well as any horse enthusiast that likes clean design.

Starting your own small business is not an easy task, and there are challenges along the way. Overcoming these help you grow as a business owner and person. We believe that loving what you do, paired with being flexible to change, are essentials to keeping your business alive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would book horseback riding lessons at Pacific Dressage in Sylmar, CA, then we’d stop for lunch at a local restaurant, Ranch Side Cafe, or The Backdoor Bakery. We’d then visit The Getty Villa in Malibu, then go wine tasting at Rosenthal Winery a few minutes away. Watching the sunset from the patio at Gladstone restaurant in the area would end our day.

A few other places that we love coming back to are the LA Arboretum and Botanical gardens in Arcadia, The Huntington Gardens in Pasadena, LACMA museum, and any art related events.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would like to give credits to a few of the people in our lives that encouraged us to pursue an artistic career, and start our own business. The first person, no longer with us, who deserves the most credit is our grandmother, Maria Fazacas. She started us on a creative path when we were kids.

I would also like to thank my husband, Bogdan Gheorghe, a graphic designer himself, who encouraged us to start our own equestrian accessories brand and also continue our horseback riding hobbies for many years.

Last but not least, I would like to give a shoutout to my horseback riding trainer, Claudia Roberts at Pacific Dressage. She is our brand ambassador, wears all our products, and was the first to invite us to be vendors and come to her horse shows.
