We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaun Roberts and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaun, how do you think about risk?
I think life is all about risk-taking. No risk no gain right? Every move I’ve made in my career has been about taking risks and hoping for the best and so far it has been working well for my life. I recommend that people take risks in life, whether it be trying out a new career or passion, take that risk and watch your life blossom.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a lifestyle photographer, but I love capturing new beginnings whether that be engagements, weddings, or maternity images. The photography market has become really saturated so it has been really hard to get my name out there and really become successful. Thankfully I have a lot of support from friends and family who always want me to take their photos and capture their events and this has helped me build my portfolio. I’ve had some challenges along the way, learning to value and price my work accordingly. I used to capture and do photography for whatever a person wanted me to do, but over time I learned what type of photography I really loved capturing and decided to simply focus on that. I want the world to know that I’m working hard to build myself and my brand and I want to capture their new beginnings.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Venice Beach, so that would be the first place I take them. It has the benefits of Shops, culture, and the beach all within one fun neighborhood. I would also take them to The Row in Downtown LA, I love all the unique shops that it has to offer.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to Shoutout one of my longtime friends Rawan, from the beginning of my journey in photography she has always supported and encouraged my growth.
