We had the good fortune of connecting with Danilo Amuedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danilo, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music came into my life in an organic way. My father is a musician and since I was born he has always kept me in the musical universe. My connection with percussion was always different. At a very young age, he felt that my way of expression through music would be playing percussion. So, in 98 during Christmas celebration, my dad gave me my first drum set. I was 4 years old

.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Talking about music as my artistic expression is like describing myself personally. When I play music, I am telling a story through sound. And I’ve learned that so organically with my dad playing his guitar. People can feel that when watching art performances and that reaction is what inspires me to keep doing what I do.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would share a little bit of my culture by going to Fogo de Chão which is a famous Brazilian restaurant. They serve great food including a very traditional bean recipe. Also going to some beautiful places like the Santa Monica pier or the view from the hills. In California there are many incredible places to enjoy the beauty of nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this to my family and friends. They gave me a very strong foundation to build on. I also have a lot of respect for my teachers in Brazil and at Berklee College of Music. I am so grateful for them.
