We had the good fortune of connecting with Kenyelle Ash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kenyelle, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’m a natural creator so starting my own business was innate. In a sense, I feel like business ownership chose me. I created opportunities for myself when other’s wouldn’t give me a chance or short changed me. I’m a natural go-getter and hustler, I was the kid at 8 years old selling candy and incense in front of Pic-N-Save which is now of course the store Big Lots for those that don’t know. In my career or when I worked a job, I was the intraprenuer. I always found ways to be innovative, improve systems and the quality of life of those around me.

Business ownership was a burning desire of mine. There are ideas that I had inside that I needed to bring to life and there were also ideas that others had that I could help bring to life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Millions in Progress is dedicated to helping 1 million+ women achieve their goals and business aspirations directly and indirectly. Aside from the coaching and consulting that I do, I’ve created products that help women level up in life. One of my favorite products that I created is the only magazine that women will need to create their vision board. The magazine can also be a table top book and is comes as a kit which includes a starter board, glue stick, washi tape, diamond rhinestone pen & “I AM’ Affirmation sticky notes! This particular product helps women save time & money while creating their vision board because they don’t have to buy countless magazines and they have what they need to get started on their vision board right away. The product also focuses on the most common areas in life where women desire to level up: Lifestyle, Business, Entrepreneurship, Career, Love, Travel, Finances, Self-Care, Aspirations, & More!

I’ve had this idea since 2017 and in 2020 I decided to go for it. The decision was not easy considering that I was working in another business at the time however I felt like this particular idea was calling me. I’ve owned and operated many businesses since 2009 and through all of the challenges that I’ve been faced with, I made a decision to not give up and that no matter what— I would keep going even if that meant I had to start over.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting and arriving on a Saturday evening our day would start on Sunday. Of course we would have to hit up a brunch spot because I love to brunch! I would take her to Ysabel in West Hollywood, I love their pancakes and drinks. During our time I’ll also take her to Catch LA and if The Canvas LA near Crenshaw is hosting Melodic Rose, I would love to take her there to experience live music as a speak easy experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my mother Dr. Michelle Odette. She is my biggest cheerleader and I wouldn’t be who I am today without her love, support, and continued encouragement.
