We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Moms face stigma and judgment everyday. Especially when we use our instincts and make less than popular decisions in society’s eyes. I created a lifestyle brand for moms that inspires us to feel empowered, confident and courageous about speaking up for ourselves and others. Creative and classy ways to shut unwanted judgments and opinions out. I wanted to create cute, unique and edgy shirts, similar to the vintage tees and rock tees I love, that helps Moms express themselves.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like my art to celebrate the power of the breast and the power of the Madre first and foremost. I love for my content and creations to embody the power of the women so much though, that it crushes stigmas and brings light to our power to change the world through generations to come and our own healing and growth as women and as a colllective. Whether it be graphic design, writing and filming content, or being a mom, I am always finding classes, virtual communities and other educational resources to learn how to get better at what I do everyday. I love collaborating with other artists to create new artwork but I also have been working on my own designs. My work is provoking and makes people think and talk ! I love getting conversations going about difficult or unpopular topics in a positive light and when I wear my creations I spark just that. My work embraces the essence of the mother, the power of the boob and my argentinian and mexican culture. Everything I do is to advocate for breastfeeding Moms, and any others moms that face stigmas like using cannabis for mental health or choosing to breastfeed past a year or even two.Since starting Boobelife, my life changed ALOT. I became a single mama and had to start over completely. I do it all now with just the help of my amazing parents but my message to Madres out there is that, we have to keep striving to create the village and support systems we need. They are there. We have to keep using our voice and speaking up for ourselves and others even when it shakes. We must keep working to strengthen our spirit and self so it may ripple to our children, families and communities. No matter what changes life brings, we can pick up and keep going. We are making changes and raising the future . We deserve all of the support and love!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love the beach ! All day motorized bike rentals in Venice for breakfast followed by cannabis friendly deep house Yoga on a high rise rooftop. Then hit the boardwalk for shopping and beach for sun tan. Wait till sunset for drum circle. Grab some ganja and drinks and enjoy. Pasadena and Glendale for street scooters and good food and even night drinks and dancing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve gone up & down and every which way about what direction to take with Boobelife and whether to keep going when life got rough but thanks to a few strong and powerful mamas out there, I am still here kicking today. Women like the Golidlacts lactation team Candices, @CrystalDomi creative coach, Michelle Hackney, Author of Mama’s Leche and Byanca Snyder of High Society Mama have all inspired and supported me to keep going and creating content and clothing for Madres that face stigmas! Things like this show me that it really does take a village to raise children and mothers. I am so grateful that whether in person or virtually, I have that village love and support. Couldn’t do it without them.
