We had the good fortune of connecting with Kisha Waters and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process on starting my own business… well as long as I can remember as far back as being a child I’ve always wanted my own business, but what really prompted me to starting TheMovementLA Fashion Week was that I really wanted to be a part of fashion weeks like New York Fashion Week, Paris Fashionweek , LA fashion week ect. and what I felt was that the cost to be a part of these types of fashion shows were extremely expensive.. and that fashion week was the best way to really get your collection in front of Stylist buyers ect. So I decided to start ThemovementLA fashion week for people that needed and deserve a platform to showcase their designs .. and it would not cost them a arm and a leg to do so. It would definitely be worth their time and investment.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
TheMovementLA Fashion Week is a fashion show / NetworkingMixer created to give creative/fashion designers, music artist, and Fashion influencers a platform to showcase their work and network.
I’m most proud of how TheMovementLA have put designers in a position to work on huge platforms and work with artists like Chris Brown, Beyoncé and many more after being a part of our show.
I got to where I am today in the fashion industry by staying consistent even when it was extremely hard. Consistency is key. The way I was able to overcome obstacles in my business was honestly to keep going, and partner with other businesses that believed in my brand.
Lessons I’ve learned along the way of being an entrepreneur is to have good customer service And treat the people that work with you well.
What I would like the world to know about me and my brands … I have been a entrepreneur for now over 11 years I love what I do and I have a lot of passion every brand that I have is built to had been to help people and to be an asset to the people that support my businesses.
What I would like for people to know about TheMovementLA Fashion Week is that it is an amazing brand built to help creators get their brands noticed. We normally have anywhere from 500 to 700 guest at our fashion shows.. if you utilize the platform correctly your brain can go exactly where you want it to. TheMovementLA Fashionweek is an elite FashionShow ran by an amazing group of people they have a passion for fashion and art.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There’s so much to love about the city of Los Angeles .. I Will definitely take my friends out to Bossa Nava on sunset or Perch rooftop restaurant downtown Los Angeles.. for fun would definitely have to go to Hermosa Beach and universal studios. Because I love outdoor so much we would definitely have to go hiking at Culver city stairs and Runyon Canyon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m so extremely grateful to Yahweh! The book think grow rich by Napoleon hill really encouraged me to move forward. Every company that I’ve ever partner with I am extremely grateful for it helped my company grow faster than I could ever imagine. Last but not least the support of my children Destiny, Shevon, & James.
