We had the good fortune of connecting with Davincii Productions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Davincii, why did you pursue a creative career?
For the longest time I simply wanted to be an intelligent person with a six figure job. This decision wasn’t making me happy. I realized I only ever felt happy in a creative setting, which in this case was music. Music set me free. Music was the only time I could be myself without any judgement. Being creative is as close as I can get to figuring out my purpose in life, my purpose on this earth, this universe even. A creative career, to me, is making a living off of what your mind is like. We all have different mediums that we can channel our creativity through. Ultimately, this creativity stems from the mind, and even the heart as well. Not everyone will understand your art. Not everyone will resonate with your craft and how you put it out there, if you choose to. One thing for sure is that If you put your all into whatever it is you wish to create, it will carry itself with the same energy you committed.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’d like to think I am very adaptive and broad with my range of music production. I don’t have a limit to any genre or style. I know a lot of producers like to say that. I realize that I can hear anything, or get a vibe, then be able to replicate that energy in my own way. I sit and listen to all kinds of music for hours, just picking new ways to approach my own production. Inspiration, for myself, never stops.
I got to where I am today through a lot of trial and error. I had to constantly fail and get up to try again. It sucked, but it was worth it. It was never easy. The only things I had to keep me motivated were my mentors and my peers. They played a big part in my growth. Some of the biggest lessons I learned was to be patient and consistent no matter how difficult things are. It is pretty cliché, but it is very helpful to follow. One thing I want the world to know about me is that I am very down to earth and open to sharing knowledge of what I do and how I do things.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a very simple person. My idea of a good time is something like going roller skating in the park. If my best friend was visiting me I’d take them to a nearby art museum. I enjoy calm and aesthetically pleasing activities more than anything. Of course amusement parks are also super fun as well!
Let’s say it is a chill week, the sun is out, the weather is pretty warm and cool. I would like to rent a place to stay near a city. Can visit some restaurants, museums, movie theatres, skating rinks, thrift shops, parks, etc.
The most fun and interesting are the ones that let you interpret and perceive things how you want.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give my credit to the world. From my family, friends, the many music mentors I’ve encountered, they are all the reason why I am successful with my craft today. I could go on forever about the different people I’ve met and learned from. I always give thanks to God first for showing me how to be fruitful with my talents. I thank my parents for making it possible to be born. I thank my siblings for inspiring me and allowing me to find my own path to success. I thank my friends for always being there when I need comfort or reassurance, or even brutal honesty. I thank my music mentors , you know who you are, for always being patient and willing to share gems and knowledge with me. There are so many people I am thankful for. That list grows everyday.
