We had the good fortune of connecting with Share Cherrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Share, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I am a very creative person. I moved from Las Vegas to Los Angeles at a very young age and I knew immediately that I wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career, it’s something that has beens goal since childhood and I knew that I would be good at it. I have always loved fashion, art and classic Hollywood, so I knew that I would either work in front of the cameras as an actress or behind the scenes in fashion and art. I took college classes in animation but various filmmaker and photographer friends always asked me to do photo shoots and to be in their film projects. I also did a bunch of background work in some very big studio movies. Being on those huge studio movie sets and watching all the behind the scenes stuff sparked my interest in filmmaking. I made my movie debut as an actress co-starring as Trish in the cult classic film Superstar Female Serial Killer by Chris Morrissey. The film became a midnight movie hit and Chris asked me to be in his next few films. In 2010 I decided to get into film producing and teamed up with Chris again to produce and star in our film Trick of the Witch. The film premiered to a sold out crowd at the New York International Independent Film Festival and won several awards since then.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am very proud of the films I have made. It took a lot of hard work, a lot of long hours, many sleepless nights, victories, defeats, but mostly hard work. It was not easy while I was going through it but if I look back it was a nice solid path and I have accomplished a lot! I now have been an actress, a producer, a director, a writer, crew, and basically any other thing that you can think of on a film set. I love all things filmmaking! It is an always has been my passion.

I’m extremely proud of all the accolades that our films have received in the past and the present. I’m most excited about my new film coming out called Hollywood Babydoll. This new film is my writing and directorial debut. As a writer, I feel like I have a unique style of telling a story from a female point of view. And also showing how a female mind can be as twisted if not more as a male mind. The film is a psychological thriller about a bored, spoiled rich girl who wants to become famous so she participates in an online Challenge that leads to murder and terror. The movie is currently in post production and I plan to have it in theaters in 2022.

I am also an athlete and marathon runner. I’m looking forward to returning to in person racing as I’m scheduled to run the Los Angeles Marathon in November. Becoming an athlete has really helped my creativity and has become a great outlet to compliment my filmmaking. It was not easy at the beginning, but I overcame the challenges the same way I overcome the challenge of completing 26.2 mile distances, one step at a time, don’t focus on the whole picture, focus on the step in front of you, chin up, look to the stars, there’s nothing on the ground that you need to see, and always believe that you’re a Spartan.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show them Hollywood of course! I would first start with a cup of coffee and maybe split a donut at Trejo’s donuts, there’s always the chance that Danny Trejo would be there. Followed up by a small private tour in my car of some of the favorite movie sites and or old movie star houses. Next up we would pull up and park near Hollywood Boulevard and I would go and take them to the Snow White Café for an afternoon slice of pizza and a pint of beer. It’s one of my most favorite places in town to sit close to the window, enjoy a quick bite and a cold drink, and people watch. Next we would walk up and down Hollywood Boulevard for a little and do some shopping at some of the souvenir shops. Hopefully were building up an appetite by this point to enjoy a late afternoon lunch at one of the Cantina’s along the boulevard.

I would also definitely take them to El Coyote, then walk down the street to Quentin Tarantino’s movie theater the New Beverly Cinema to watch a cool retro film, or if we’re lucky enough when his purchase of the Vista theater opens up I would love to go there. We would then find some time to go to the beach, like Will Rogers Beach I find it very comfortable. We definitely have to go shopping downtown, and see some of the crowded little alleys, and grab a churro or some tacos down there. And while we’re downtown we cannot forget the Puebla. The birthplace of Los Angeles.

I absolutely love my city, I love Hollywood, and I love the inner core of Los Angeles. There’s so many little places to go and eat, food to taste, people to see. I love the culture of all the different people and I love sampling culture by tasting food and or enjoying drink. The best places I would say, are definitely Hollywood, Santa Monica, downtown, and Los Feliz.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to pay credit to classic Hollywood creators like Mary Pickford. She paved the way for female filmmakers. I would have been able to become a film producer without her becoming a huge Hollywood mover and shaker and creating her movie studio in early Hollywood.
