We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivette Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ivette, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
If youre scared to do it, you can do it with fear but just do it anyways.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a proud plus size Latina that enjoys helping women be more comfortable in their skin. Through my blog I share fashion inspirations and things that have helped me accept myself. I grew up during a time that plus size fashion was limited and I was forced to dress like a tom-boy. I’ve always had a passion for fashion but was frustrated with the lack of options. I learned of a plus size clothing store in my late high school years and quickly realized that I couldn’t afford the pieces. So that began my love for thrifting. I had to make do with what I could afford. Now, I believe we have made traction with options for the plus size community. As well as more affordable prices that can make you feel just as fabulous if you were wearing a piece from Eloquii or a thrifted piece. I hope that my blog can inspire the next women to wear the sleeveless shirt or 2 piece bathing suit and truly be comfortable in her skin. I can not tell you the amount of women that I get on the daily in my DM’s telling me how they just purchased their first pair of shorts or swimsuit because they saw what I had on in a previous post. They knew I would be rooting for them so they stepped out of their comfort zone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am from Philly and we have tons of great things to do an eat here. If I had to pick a few local favorites, it would be

“Sunset Social”, its a green rooftop restaurant that has an amazing view of the city and some quick bites. You can bring our own entertainment such as board games, music or eats and just chill out on the grass or chairs.

“Spruce Street Harbor” is another favorite, Here you can enjoy some outdoor food trucks and lights under the hammock with a beautiful view of our connecting sister city Camden, New Jersey. The view is amazing and on the weekends they have live music concerts and fun things for you an your friends/family to enjoy. Also, be sure to leave make a love wish with your lock along the “Love Wall” near the Hilton Hotel.

“The Franklin Fountain” is where you can go for some delicious classic ice cream. Stepping into this place is like a blast from the past. The staff wears bow-ties and they specialize in handmade ice cream and soda pop. You can catch many different candies from your childhood there as well. The line gets pretty long but def worth the wait.

“Bar Bombon” is a vegan friendly spot that I enjoy to eat at. They specialize in Latin vegan dishes that are out of this world. Their Spanish meatballs are pure happiness to your belly along with the buffalo cauliflower tacos. Soooo good, I promise you will not be disappointed.

“Rowhome Coffee” is a new favorite place for me. The coffee is wonderful and they specialize in breakfast sandwiches on a pretzel. It gets no better than this. You can get an everything pretzel with egg, cheese and your choice of meat. I enjoy sneaking over to this place and having a delicious quad americano with my sandwich and sitting outside while people watching.

There are tons of places to choose from when you come here and honestly a quick trip over the bridge puts you around some fun things to do and places to shop as well.

For those who enjoy meat, you can NOT, I express CAN NOT come to Philly without eating a Philly Cheesesteak. Seriously, you do not want to disappoint yourself. For cheesesteaks ” Steve’s Prince of Steaks” is the place to be. Your’e away from the tourist spots and can truly enjoy an authentic steak. WIT cheese please..

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe that we all can use some additional motivation. Your tribe should always inspire you to push yourself alittle further and help you come out of your comfort zone. I have an amazing friend that is more like a sister and she believes in every dream, idea that comes off the top of my mind or from my heart. She pushes me to be a better person in all areas of my life. Her name is Shawn and my nickname for her is Sunkiss.
