We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabino Sernia and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabino, what do you attribute your success to?
Talent and perseverance. Talent is something you are blessed by so help to speed up any achievement in your life, but perseverance is very important, too. If you have a dream or a goal, you never have to stop chasing it. I have seen a lot of people and colleagues in my life giving up their goals just because they did not believe in themselves. I totally agree with Steve Job said “Stay hungry, stay foolish”: you always need to be hungry, even if the success has came because there is always something more to gain…and to be foolish, because a fool is a person able to see beyond the normal life…

What should our readers know about your business?
I lived in Rome for 17 years. Rome was my home, where I earned a law degree and started working in some international law firms. I mean, I had all I could desire but there was something missing: my region, Puglia, and the way of life we have here. So once I decide to step up in the dark and to start a new project, focused on specific areas of the law in Puglia: I was sure Puglia has entrepreneurs and companies which call for a specific assistance and there is no need to go necessarily to Rome or Milan to find out the right advisor. When I started OnLex Studio Legale with Celeste, we were a little bit scared because we strongly believed in our project and in our skills, but we were not sure to be able to find the right clients in Puglia (taking into consideration that OnLex Studio Legale is focused on IP, IT, TMT, Real Estate, Corporate and M&A). The first six months have been awesome and amazing: we have been in touch with a lot of people which decided to be assisted by us. I think we have two important qualities which help us to differ from the others: we are very enthusiastic on what we do and we offer a “tailor-made” assistance, which means that we are always on side of our client and this is highly appreciated.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First of all, I would take him to my mum’s house: she is the best cook ever!! Well, Puglia is full of places which are worth to be seen. I find Alberobello magical during Christmas time, when the soft color of the lights lightens the well-known “trulli”. But also Castel del Monte, a castle built by Federico II, which is very close to where I live, deserves to be visited. Sometimes I go there when I want to relax and meditate. Of course, during summer time, I would propose a dive in Salento’s beaches, one of the most beautiful area we have in Italy for sea. Lecce and Bari are very interesting cities. Polignano a mare and Monopoli are still showing authentic Puglia because of their constructions. And finally, I would take a friend to have a walk on Barletta’s beach, where I used to go with my grandfather when I was a child….

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well, I guess there are some person which deserves more than a mention: first of all, my family, a milestone in my life, always on my side, supporting and encouraging me in every activity I have carried out. I always love to say than my mother is the “heart” and my father is the “brain”, but also my sister Wanda is very inspiring to me for the way she approaches at life. Valeria, my girlfriend, is a part of me on which I can rely on in any moment. Then, I had a great teacher, who was more that a simple colleague, Domenico Colella, who taught me all I know about law and negotiations. And what about Celeste Liso? She was as fool as I am, strongly believing in OnLex Studio Legale project which is growing up very fast. Last but not least, all my friend and all the clients which daily rely on me.
