Meet Osmar Sequeira | Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Osmar Sequeira and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Osmar, what role has risk played in your life or career?
What do I think about risk? I believe that risks are one of the main keys to success, because it is the only way to get out of your comfort zone. It forces you to grow, to expand, to reach for your goal.
The risks that I have taken in my life are several. One of the most difficult ones was leaving my family behind in Nicaragua to come to the United States to pursue my dreams.

On my journey to success, I had to go through difficult moments that have helped me get to where I am. Along the way, I fell many times but always got up. Prior to getting into photography, I was a collegiate soccer player and I suffered a very serious knee injury. Unfortunately, that injury forced me to stop pursuing my dream to become a professional soccer player. However, I realized what my true purpose in this life was- in my case, it was to become a professional photographer/creative director.

One of the most rewarding risks that I have taken in my life was to move from Toledo, Ohio to Los Angeles, CA and pursue my passion for photography. At the time, I had recently graduated from college, with a degree in Business but decided that it wasn’t the path for me. I took a leap of faith and drove to L.A. knowing that I didn’t have any family, friends, or even connections in the photography industry. It was literally just my camera and I. One thing about L.A. the competition is fierce, however, I followed my heart and my vision. Looking back now, I can truly say, it was the craziest risk that I have ever taken but, someone once told me that you have to be comfortable being uncomfortable in order to grow.

Now, here I am. Humbly speaking, without competing with anyone, but myself, wanting to achieve all my goals.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art goes beyond photography, there is something so special about capturing a moment in each story with my work. What sets me apart from the others is the way I create photos of retro times that I did not have the opportunity to experience and today I combine them with the present so that those who did not have the chance to live those times can understand what goes through my vision.

One of the things that I am most proud of is that I have enjoyed the process of my career. I am a person who believes a lot in the law of attraction and so far all the things that I attracted are happening, I always make them happen because I put passion, discipline and love.

The way I came to where I am right now professionally, was believing in me, with my discipline and respecting the people with whom I have worked with.

It was not easy at all, in this industry you have to stay consistent and the most important thing is to gain trust with the person you work with and respect them all the time.

The lessons I’ve learned so far, is to stay humble but not let anyone take away the value you deserve, the moment you loose your value is the moment everything is going to get difficult.

What I want the world to know about me, my brand, is that I do not give up, I do not fail with my work and if I do ill get back up and that I always delivered because I know that everything is possible in this life, as long as you keep working hard.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Right now I am currently living in los Angeles. In my opinion, the places where I would take my friends would be the beach, viewpoints, sunsets. the mountains around Malibu is a great spot to visit because you have the whole view of the ocean.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother which is my number one supporter since day one, my family and all those people that support my work till this day. One of the main reasons that I stay motivated is because I know there is a lot people that show so much love to my creativity.
