We had the good fortune of connecting with Trent Buxton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trent, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I’m an intense, all in type of person and rarely do I find others who are willing and capable of understanding that which can result in fear. There’s nothing I love more than when I’ve been lucky enough to have found a risk I’m so passionate about that I going all in on is a rush and I don’t have another option. The stakes make it easier and authenticity is the biproduct.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what separates me apart from others is my depth, intensity, my pain, authenticity, my gift of hyper analysis, and what I’ve sacrificed. I feel like a lot of people don’t really ever sacrifice in life and don’t have the passion to which results in a flatline of just playing it safe, with no change, no arch’s, they stay in the box because they accepted that. I’m a veteran and served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
One of the most valuable gifts the Air Force gave was the word Perseverance and I cherish it like a shiny medal. I am forever changed from my service and truly putting service before self. After my service ended due to injuries sustained on a mission I was lost with no purpose. The reality of life is that no one’s coming to save you. Aside from physical injuries were mental, it was hard to be awake, and I had reached a realization that I was going to die if something didn’t change. The transition from military to civilian life was very rough. I was lucky to have the GI Bill where I was afforded some options at life. I decided I needed to get myself out of my comfort zone, on a schedule, out of the house. More for therapeutic reasons and to try to learn how to be human again I started at the Strasberg method acting institute. It ended up being a perfect miracle in my life, where all the pain, trauma, and negativity my life had, could be taken and used for the power, strength, depth, and authenticity in my work. I was able to essentially taken a negative and turn it into a positive. Basically acting saved my life and I’m forever grateful. I hope to be able to do it Justice with opportunity to give my heart and soul as it’s life and death to give people an experience and make them feel something through my art whatever that may be.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Maybe start off with a nice hike up to the Hollywood sign, then brunch at one of my favorite little gems Basecamp Diner in base of the Griffith Park foothills in Burbank. Maybe a ride through Topanga Canyon to Malibu, then up to Venice to take in all the wonderful unique magical cultures for lunch. For dinner my absolute favorite place the historical Smokehouse in Burbank right across from the main WB lot.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off my mother for loving me, and all the people that have taken the time to really actually taken the time to actually see me with most of the layers. Not to be too basic but all the haters that have been quick to judge, because it’s been a mirror to their own insecurities they fear in jealousy, the people that follow everything you do not to support but wish you’d fail to be as miserable and simple minded as them. All the people that tried to keep me down that made me stronger and push harder.
