We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamilah Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamilah, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
I always start my days with a quiet moment alone- 30 minutes. I pray and give thanks to God, connect and welcome goodness & release all that I can not control . I feel like this has been so vital to my success this far. But most importantly gratitude!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a dancer by heart & in my spirit but I consider myself to be just creative in general. I have always love to dance or paint very often.

I admire art so much. Even something like cooking or creating content on my YouTube Channel ( Jamilahmichelle2.0) .

I just enjoy expression.

Being so dedicated to share experiences and be open through different forms of creativity and art is something that has brought me this far in my journey today.

This journey in LA has been both beautiful & challenging at the same time. I can truly say that it’s been one of my truest life tests to keep following my purpose here.

I’ve encountered a lot in my time here & the best lessons I’ve learned thus far is to remember to give yourself grace, be patient with your journey; to stay grounded and focus.

It’s also many learning & unlearning elements to be present and okay with in growth.

My brand is based on sharing first my faith, resilience, human experiences and inspiration.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love the beach so I would bring my bestie to Malibu! I also love Santa Monica so we’d go down the PCH and head over to the “King & Queen Cantina” for some amazing food and drinks.

We would go shopping and probably check out the Galleria and make our way to Melrose!

I love trading post so we would definitely check out the Melrose Trading Post market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My story is complex but also a continuous lesson with many blessings. With that I always thank God first !

Since moving to Los Angeles I have to give special shouts if I haven’t already to my family specifically my sister and my brother; family friends and people that we keep in our circle they have been incredibly supportive in my transition from Chicago to Los Angeles.

My parents and grandparents people who genuinely believe in me.

To have that kind of love and support it takes you so much further!

With dance I have so many people that I want to dedicate my shout out to since being in LA. I’m grateful for the teachers I’ve learned from within dance, auditions and the opportunities that are continuously placed in front of me!
