We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Bauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Authenticity and the willingness to be vulnerable. When I authentically share about my own experiences navigating challenges, even the heavier aspects of them, people resonate with that and appreciate knowing they’re not alone. When I can show that I’m human and don’t have all the answers, but I do have tools and share what I learned coming out the other side, it makes me accessible and gives hope that there’s a way forward. Often people aren’t comfortable showing vulnerability until someone else does first. And the work I do is all about vulnerability. We have to expose the shadow parts of ourselves if we want to work through it and find the light. I don’t mind vulnerability because it’s what connects us in meaningful, deep ways…and gives my clients permission to be themselves in a judgment free-zone.
The way I do this is through my writing, which is all about story-telling. I post a monthly blog and regularly contribute articles to online publications. I’m amazed at how many people (globally!) share with me the impact of those articles. I get most of my new clients by connecting with them through my authentic and vulnerable writing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

I run two businesses, actually. Jenn Bauer Healing, which offers one-on-one coaching and energy healing sessions, and The Institute for Nature Centered Coaching (INCC), which is a 10-month life coach training program. The latter is centered on our connection to nature’s infinite wisdom and our own true nature to live in wholeness, joy and freedom. Our training program is part on-demand learning modules, part weekly live virtual classes, and part practice coaching with other coaches-in-training. Our eleven delightful teachers are hand-picked experts in their field.

Unlike other coach training programs which focus on mental and emotional processing, we take a holistic approach to coaching the whole person across all auric levels – Physical, Emotional, Conscious, Subconscious, and Spiritual. We also teach tools and modalities that center around Nature as a teacher, sanctuary, and source of connection to a higher power and inner wisdom. Most coach training programs stear clear of Spirituality, while we shout it from the rooftops.

When I created INCC in 2020, we had the usual new business hurdles to overcome because we were doing something new and offering something that hadn’t been created before. There was a lot of learning in the beginning, especially with regard to tech challenges. Thankfully we had a small first group of students who were our best bug finders! We asked a lot of questions and regularly checked in with both students and teachers to find out what was working well and what could be improved upon. We adjusted and then tested and adjusted some more. We took one challenge at a time and evolved as we went.

I’m proud of what we’ve created and I remain open to continually improving and evolving as we grow. I believe that allowing myself to be wrong, to make mistakes, and our adaptability is what makes us successful.

I want the world to know about INCC because I believe that when we heal ourselves we heal our planet. When we cultivate a culture of reciprocity with nature we can change the world one ripple at a time. The more people we can serve, the better off humankind and the planet becomes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m all about connecting with nature, so it’s all about the beach and hiking for me. I’d take them out to Hermosa Beach, hike the trails in Rancho Palos Verde and at the Hollywood sign. For meals, we’d cruise up and down Manhattan beach and stop in wherever our stomachs crave that has a view. There are so many fun spots to eat and drink in Manhattan and Redondo beach, so we’d spend the week enjoying them all. I’d also take them Whale Watching and on a day-trip out to Catalina Island.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Here’s a shoutout to my husband, Jeff, who supported my transition from the corporate world to entreprenuership and who is deeply encouraging when I hit inevitable hurdles. He is my biggest cheerleader. I’m deeply grateful for his love, support and faith in me and my vision.
