We had the good fortune of connecting with Willden Doherty and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Willden, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Professionally, I believe my skills are best suited as a media personality. Streaming, podcasting, and hosting are things I am good at. Having discussions with a variety of people about topics related to gaming, film, and pop culture interests me. I always wanted to work at a company like G4 or IGN for example. I enjoy going to conventions as well so doing coverage for those events is also on my list. If I am able to travel as part of my career, that would be an end goal. That is something I have always wanted to do more of.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I stream a few days a week on Twitch. My channel is twitch.tv/willden1990. I have been streaming for almost 5 years. On my channel I have hosted podcasts, been on game shows, and play games. It’s been a rough journey for me in terms of growth, but I still enjoy it. I have worked at a few conventions/events as a brand ambassador. The majority of events have been related to pop culture/gaming and virtual reality. I have been able to make connections with people in the industry that way. I created some short editorial videos for a gaming news show on Gaming Nest News. I was able to create a lot of video content that I haven’t done before. Overall, I have done a variety of things over the last couple years which have broaden my creativity and skills.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are a good amount of places here. I would take them to the Universal and Disneyland theme parks. It’s a bit of an expensive time, but worth it. I would take a day trip to one of the many beaches around the area. I enjoy going to ktown and little tokyo for the clubs. Grand Central Market is a good place to get a variety of food. Round 1 is a place I recommend if you miss arcades. I recommend Guild Hall as a must for a bar experience if you like board games.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a couple shoutouts. One is Kendelle Lyn. We co-produced a gaming podcast together which gave me a lot of experience in that field. Kendelle was one of the first friends I made in the LA area. Kendelle has been supportive and believed in what I can do. Kendelle has since moved on to work at G4 and I’m happy for her success. I want to also mention Yashar Hoang who has helped me with marketing/branding myself. He has helped with modding my twitch and creating goals/plans for my channel. He has his own creative agency, YDZ Creative Group. I finally want to shoutout my roommate Paul Bianchi. He works as a set designer, producer, and writer. He has been super supportive of my goals and has helped me with opportunities. These are a few of the many people in my life that have made it better.
