We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia Hargrove and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tia, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
This question is truly one of life’s many conundrums. I start by asking myself how much is this truly costing me. A lot of times it has nothing to do with financial matters. I begin to weigh the cost of the pros versus cons. I constantly lead with my heart, so keeping a list of pros versus cons helps. I ask myself a series of questions. Am I losing sleep over this? Am I gaining weight because I’m stress eating? Are my close relationships suffering because of my poor attitude? I look at these yes or no answers and begin to weigh the cost. If what I’ll gain by continuing is greater than giving up I’m not stopping. The journey is something I’m willing to take. Regret is not an option.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business partner Christy and I own and operate a multi-line apparel and accessories showroom. We specialize in “Made in the USA” brands. What we do is not easy, but our “why” keeps us striving. The biggest lesson I’ve learned along the way is you truly only fail if you don’t try. Don’t tell yourself no! Keep going! There will always be someone who wants what you have to offer. Our brands are striving for a more sustainable and inclusive industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Definitely a little bit of everywhere. I’d drive down to Palm Springs for great shopping on highway 111. Visit LACMA and take in some epic art. Catch a Laker Game and grab some Poke!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of my favorite books is Tuesdays with Morrie. This book lit an absolute fire under me. It has wonderful lessons on living in the now, loving life, and love always winning.

Parents of course! My first true heroes.

My fiancé Joshua. He never let me doubt myself.

Last but not least, Gyasi. My son. Seeing myself through his eyes is quite amazing.
