Meet Terrell Green | Creative Strategist & Recruitment Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Terrell Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Terrell, what do you want people to remember about you?
Making art creation a public health solution to aid in combating social determinants of health. Bringing racial equity to leadership in the global theatre industry. Lastly, helping to develop the economic future of the art industry by opening a production arts high school.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve spent the past 12 years creating arts integrated educational programs for youth. Using creative writing and/or theatre to teach literacy, conflict resolution, and sexual health awareness to youth across the country. I spent most of my career with my purpose being to receive praise and accolades for my work. I worked to receive a stamp of approval from others— that burned me out! I had to step back and assess what I valued, what was important to me, and where could I truly have and create life-changing experiences. When I let go of seeking the approval of others and embraced seeking what my impact could be, the opportunities begin to present themselves.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would start in Little Tokyo walk around the Japanese Village Plaza, do some shopping in the various shops. Find some time to drive down to South Central and grab a burger from the LA staple Hawkins Burger. Arrange a trip and several impromptu photoshoots at the LA Arboretum. Check out what’s at the Jeffrey Deitch Gallery. Grab lunch and maybe a throwback Jersey at Mercado La Paloma. Grab a pick me up coffee from Sip and Sonder!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother! Since I have been in 8th grade my mother has been earning a variety of degrees and next spring she’ll earn her doctorate! I’ve watched her bury her father and my father, run a laboratory and earn degrees while getting dinner on the table every night. She also manages to also pick up the phone. She’s a true legend and myth.
