We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The success of my brand, You’re Such a Catch, is a culmination of vulnerability, authenticity, and community. On the podcast, conversations are raw, honest, and unscripted. My guests share their truth based upon their experiences or field of expertise. On solocasts, I speak from the heart on topics ranging from dating and relationships to mindset and manifestation. I consider myself an open book. Behind the microphone or across from a client, authenticity is vital to the success of my brand. It’s crucial that I not only talk the talk but walk the walk. A coach is a leader, and one must possess integrity as a leader. Since a lot of the subject matter discussed is personal, it’s essential to build trust with my clients. I’ve found this happens organically, over time, when I represent myself authentically and create a safe space to share freely. Lastly, the success of my brand would collapse without community. I primarily help women. Those I serve through my podcast and coaching business are my why—my purpose. My passion is helping women learn to love the reflection they see in the mirror.

What should our readers know about your business?
You’re Such a Catch originated after a happy hour with a close-knit group of girlfriends. I noticed several similarities as I looked around the table: we’re all beautiful, intelligent, charismatic, funny, financially savvy, and career-minded. The other glaring commonality was our relationship status—single. I didn’t understand why but I was determined to uncover the reason. I decided to document my dating adventures on the podcast. I hosted experts, relationship coaches, women empowerment champions, and even prospective suitors. I share my life as an open book anyway, so the podcast naturally became an extension of my vulnerability. The title derived from the words I often heard, “Why are you single, Erin? You’re such a catch.”
Somewhere during Season 2, I had an Oprah AHA moment. I realized the solution to our dating woes wasn’t outside of us. I committed to doing the inner work, sharing my progress in real-time, which ignited my mission. I help women learn to love the reflection they see in the mirror. In Season 3, the tagline, before we can reel in the catch of a lifetime, we must first bait the hook with self-love, was born as well as my coaching practice.

Self-love, mindset, and manifestation are the basis of my coaching practice. Having a positive mindset and understanding the basic fundamentals of how the human brain works is where everything begins. It’s why Phil Jackson used to have the Lakers doing visualization drills in addition to their physical workouts. Once that piece is in place, the focus shifts inward, on the most important relationship you have, the one with yourself. This is where the heavy lifting is done. A person must overcome limiting beliefs, discuss trauma, accept events as part of their story, and leave them in the past to truly live in the present. Once progress is made at this stage, I teach my clients how to attract their dream: (wo)man, career, family, home, or a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We all possess the power, and with guidance, anyone can reel in their wildest dreams.

The most important lesson I’ve learned throughout this journey of creating and owning my own business is that if you’re living your purpose and following your calling, you can absolutely get paid to do what you love, and it doesn’t feel like work. Helping women fills my bucket, and watching clients have a transformation or their own Oprah AHA moment is an incredible gift.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend came to visit, we’d start in the Beach Cities since that’s home for me. We’d take the golf cart to Hermosa and grab brunch at Martha’s. Then we’d walk the strand and head up to Curious Gift Shop to browse and buy whatever catches our eye—maybe a You’re Such a Catch greeting card (shameless plug). We’d do a bit of a costume change from our causal athleisure wear to evening-to-night wear. Then we’d head to Elephante for happy hour, watermelon mezcal margs, and some apps. Next up, we’d venture to West Hollywood so she could experience my favorite spot, The Abbey, stopping by an ATM on the way. We’d tear up the dance floor, soak up the amazing energy the Abbey brings, make a best friend or three or five, and probably split a sweet treat from their dessert menu. The key lime pie is delicious!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people I’d love to shout out and express gratitude toward for their belief in me, and the success of You’re Such a Catch. My mom is my biggest cheerleader. She listens to every episode and shares content with friends she thinks can benefit from the message. I am grateful to my loyal listeners, especially my YSC Unfiltered Fam, who not only listen faithfully but contribute financially to offset production costs. I’m humbled and honored to all of my clients who have entrusted me to guide and lead them on their respective journeys. I want to thank those who’ve submitted a rate or review, let me feature them as my Catch of the Week, or simply shared content with someone who needed the information. My life will forever be changed by the podcasting community and the friends I’ve made near and far by having this platform. To Cathy Heller and Angie Lee, my podcasting role models, thank you for inspiring me and encouraging me to share my voice. And lastly, to Pod Sound School, who sent me a DM in 2019 that ignited this whole journey. You’re Such a Catch wouldn’t exist if they hadn’t educated me on what a podcast was and helped me overcome my fear of getting behind a microphone. I’m forever indebted.
