We had the good fortune of connecting with Barrington Coburn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Barrington, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I started Fearless Anarchy it was about putting my vision of streetwear fashion out into the world while also telling a story from that my audience as well as myself can relate to. I always thought it would be pretty cool to have a clothing line and see my designs on others now I’m working to make that happen.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fearless Anarchy was a brand I conceptualized at the age of 14. It was all about being your most authentic and true self without worrying about the problems others had with that. When I turned 18 I printed my first tee shirt and brought the idea really to life. It’s not easy at all, money has been a pretty big challenge as everyone should know starting a business is an investment. So we’re moving through the investment phases very carefully and financially supporting the dream. Throughout this journey I’ve learned to truly trust the process, to express as you feel not what others think you should feel, and to truly enjoy the company along the journey of life. This brand is a revolution of personality. Our designs will range from simple to odd and complex
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well we’d kick off the day seeing the sunrise then start with breakfast. mix it up in the morning so maybe something more traditional like a diner one day, another like Sobe Vegan another. We would go to Top Golf, Pool Halls, Bowling, Hollywood Beach, the airport viewing area, Go Kart racing and so many more. Then we would go to somewhere like MOD Pizza or Burgerfi or Bolay for lunch. We would go to Breakinmia at least two times in the week and go to the William Powel bridge to workout. To close out we would go get drinks at a sports bar like Twin Peaks or Olé Olé. If it’s planned well enough maybe some indoor skydiving.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people to include when it comes to the support and efforts made that have helped me succeed thus far. Aside from my Family I would thank my good friend Albrielle McFadden, the entire family at Breakinmia, Alonzowill Creative Dance company and so many more but these are just a few.
