Meet Jamel Baines | Film Producer & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamel Baines and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was spending way too much time making everybody else business thrive. I wanted a opportunity to create something that I could make thrive as well.
Building success for other people who didn’t give back opportunity was a turning point of my career, in that moment I realize I can build my own business to be successful then give other people opportunity to be successful and to solidify themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been definitely on a journey and the most difficult thing to do is to be truthful to yourself, but to do that you must conquer yourself.
Creating opportunities with being a filmmaker and having a production company are some of the things I’m most excited about.
I started off as a background actor when I first came to Los Angeles California 8 years ago. I already had the experience of being on set with big-name celebrities from music videos to casting talent for BET & MTV, but truly being a TV Host at a local television network called Bcat on public access in Brooklyn help start me off as a producer and creative talent I’ve became today!
Where I got my hustle from hosting and producing my own TV shows and and being a quick on your feet thinker when it came hosting a red carpet events or casting 20 models for a movie production or video last min.
My story, You are looking at the definition of a hustler who literally came from nothing to be coming now probably Hollywood’s go to film TV producer and soon to be a named actor amongst my peers alike and thats only the beginning!
Having strong faith is the biggest thing you can use when you’re going off a vision, walk towards it and trust that vision!
But one key advice I would have to say to people who are in the entertainment industry would be, create opportunities while you are on your way up because you will build a strong enough foundation, which you can never fall.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m super LA right now so I would definitely recommend going to Echo Park with me so we can get zen vibes and meditate.
But my little low key spot to go to would be in Koreatown. I love Japanese food, so Yellow House Café off 3rd Avenue.
And possibly go to the Mondrian hotel Skybar on Sunset Blvd Thursday or Saturday night.
Sunday early afternoon Leimert Park they have the best Jamaican food and Black market selling things like sea moss and clothes, I love going randomly.
Chocolate sundaes on Sundays night at the laugh factory. Good laughs and awesome crowd!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I know it sounds wild but I like the shout out Nick Cannon because just seeing him on TV on the Nick Cannon show it was representation for me to let me know I could do it too.
Which I actually ended up working with him at a radio station in New York City, Now the rest is history! I’m Jamel Baines
