We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Winbush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
When adults tell kids or young adults to be ‘practical’ or ‘realistic’ when discussing their goals and dreams for the future. Not only is it putting their imaginations in a box but it is also teaching that young adult/child to set a ceiling or cap on what they are capable of. Do not listen to anyone but your heart and soul when it comes to what you want out of this life. You are and can truly be/do whatever you want! People have gone to space! No dream is too big, I promise. Be absolutely delusional if you have to! Dream so big and work so hard (or smart) at it and I promise those “delusions” won’t feel like delusions anymore. You will attain them step by step and in turn teach everyone around you, young and old, that the impossible is indeed possible.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Art is so personal and as an artist, I strive to bring my own take on every single collaboration, story, video, photo, etc., that I am apart of. It is so easy to forget how unique our experiences and perspectives are that it is easy to succumb to following or copying others. When people see my content or my projects on their television screens, I want them to know and understand that loving/accepting yourself and being unapologetically you, will give you everything you ever wanted and needed. What sets me apart is exactly who I am. No one can be me just like I cannot be anyone else. I bring openness, fun, laughter and comfortability to all of my projects and I pride myself in being someone my co stars, co collaborators, friends and family can turn to. I started my acting/modeling journey out of Portland, OR in Feb 2017 and my consistent content creation journey in Feb 2022, a bit after relocating to Los Angeles at the end of 2020. Choosing a career in entertainment comes with its own special kind of hardships. You truly have to dig into yourself, reflect on your own behavior and make any necessary changes. There may be times where you are not booking often, not getting the looks you want, not getting callbacks, the list goes on– but you either quit or keep going; they both hurt. However, I can tell you, coming out of the other side with a killer team, supportive community, trust and successes (no matter how big or small) makes it all worth it. My best advice is ENJOY THE JOURNEY! Make memories, have fun and simply enjoy your LIFE and those in it, while you can. Time stops for no one.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have only lived in Los Angeles for a little over a year and I moved during the height of the pandemic so I still feel like a tourist myself! However, what I love about LA is that there are endless amounts of things to do. On the weekends, I would recommend hitting up the flea markets; Melrose Trading Post (only Sundays), Rosebowl (once a month) and Silverlake Flea (every weekend) to name a few. Eat the BEST sushi from Katana (Weho) or Sushi Roku (Santa Monica). Visit some of the most cultural infused museums, hit an amusement park, lay at the beach (find those hidden cave gems), try Tatsu Ramen (my fav) and check out the best city view spots. If you are looking for night life, it is endless, you won’t be disappointed. Plus we are close to Las Vegas and Mexico if you want to take a little trip out of the city for a bit! Definitely not something you can do IN LA but it’s convenient 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am a cultivation of all those who have pushed for me on my wild journey! This goes out to my family, friends, boyfriend, agents, manager, supporters and everyone else who believes in the “impossible” dreams.
