Meet Tiffany Dunia | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Dunia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Pursuing a career in the entertainment industry requires me to consistently take risks. The auditions, meetings, networking, acting – all of it involves an investment of time, money, and a willingness to step outside of what feels comfortable. Sometimes these risks are great and other times they are small. No matter the situation, everyday demands intentionality and boldness. So for me, risk is absolutely necessary as an actor. In fact, without it, not only would I not be where I am today in my career, but I would not have moved to LA, let alone have even pursued acting.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My love of stories began at a young age. As I grew older and stories grew more complicated, this love was solidified into my very soul. By the time I told my parents that I wanted to pursue a career in acting, it was not really a surprise.
Since moving to Los Angeles, I have worked with a variety of people on many different kinds of projects: short films (many having gone on to film festivals), commercials, music videos (domestic and international), promos, photo shoots, series, theatre, etc. A couple of those projects are expected to release this year and a few new projects are in the works for the upcoming years.
Starting last year, I had the opportunity to, not only be in the film, Coromance-19, but to also work closely with the director, DJ Kim, and fellow actor, Kang Kim, throughout the entire process – pre-production, filming, post-production, and marketing. I’m excited and honored to announce that our film, Coromance-19, is an official selection at Cinequest Film Festival 2022. Cinequest has their online portion of the festival in April; so the three of us, director and actors, have been able to participate and host a couple online events for our film. It’s all very exciting, and I can’t wait to share this wonderful film and story with the world once it releases!
Working with so many different people has been an absolute joy and pleasure. I have had the incredible opportunity to experience so much diversity and culture – not only to come alongside, but also to be welcomed and immersed into. I absolutely love it, and it’s truly an honor!
Looking back, there was not really a clear path to where I am today – a lot of meetings, emails, auditions, last minute jobs, and even projects just with friends. There are so many little steps that I have to continuously take, and oftentimes I do not realize my progress until I look back and see how far I have come. As in any profession, a career takes hard work and discipline. Some days are exciting in ways that make it feel easy. Other days, it seems like an uphill climb – both ways.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For me, a trip like that would revolve more around good conversation, good food, lots of laughs, and unique adventures. I personally find the hidden gems of LA more conducive to this type of experience. So my favorite street food, the hikes that no one knows about, the hole-in-the-wall restaurants, the beaches that no one goes to, etc., would all be on my list. In fact, I may even recommend traveling a little out of town for a good activity like ocean kayaking, a food festival, horseback riding, a ballroom dance event, or even just a peaceful and quiet spot away from other people.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The answer is twofold. First and foremost, I would say my family. They have supported and encouraged me to continue on while others wanted me to doubt and give up. This has been true from the very beginning. My family never questioned me, “Is it possible?” or “Can YOU actually be successful in this field?” Their response was always one of love and support, which really stood out to me. When I first started pursuing a career in acting, I faced a wide variety of responses – some supportive, some hopeful but doubtful, and some disapproved and even looked down on me for my decision. In fact, I had teachers tell me I wasn’t good enough or pretty enough or just enough to make it in this industry. So, shoutout to my family for having my back and reminding me I could.
Second, my community in this industry. There are so many wonderful people that I have had the honor of working with. More than that, I have had the pleasure of working with many of those people on multiple projects. I am so thankful and grateful to have such wonderful friends and colleagues that invite me back for their projects, their friend’s projects, and even their esteemed colleagues’ projects. It is truly such a joy when I see both new faces and familiar faces in my industry community.
