We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Knosp-Guiral and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Passion and hard work.

From a young age my parents made me aware of disadvantaged populations and injustices that occur all over the world. Through that awareness, I became passionate about working to solve some of our communities most pressing issues, one of which being access to a quality education. I was fortunate enough to go to good schools growing up and I understand the value in quality education for everyone, which is why I work so hard every day to try to afford that same opportunity to every student.

My passion for helping others has kept me motivated and inspired and has helped me persevere when the road gets rocky.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think my work ethic and authenticity set me apart. Through this, I’ve built a career that I’m extremely proud of. I get to do something that I love each and every day, all while helping others.

I started at Echoes of Hope seven years ago as the Administrative Assistant and worked with the Program Director, Jevon (who also was the organization’s first ever youth). He really showed me the ropes. I learned a lot about how nonprofits run, a lot about myself, and about the challenges the students we serve face. I’ve been blessed to create and build relationships with students who often are simply looking for a friend and mentor. Being able to watch the youth accomplish their goals and obtain their degrees has been so rewarding.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the South Bay and I love the beach so that would be stop number one, take a bike ride on the strand. Maybe even make the drive up the coast to some wineries. Take in a LA Kings game or a concert.

Three of my favorites restaurants are Bottle Inn in Hermosa (as the daughter of an Italian woman, I can be picky about italian food and Bottle Inn never disappoints), Ollo in Malibu, and Wallflower in Venice.

Favorite bars: Playa Provisions in Playa del Rey and Harvard & Stone in LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have a few: 1. Echoes of Hope Co-Founders, Stacia & Luc Robitaille. Throughout my time with Echoes of Hope, they gave me the opportunity to grow, always supported me, and gave me the freedom to facilitate this important work.

2. My parents, who have always supported me every step of the way and offered an abundance of guidance and unconditional love. They have been the best parents any child could ask for.

3. My husband who always encourages and inspires me to be the best version of myself.

4. And to all the Echoes of Hope Youth who I’ve had the pleasure of working with. You are my inspiration every day!
