We had the good fortune of connecting with Joshua Muhammad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joshua, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I believe that the luxurious lifestyle I want to live, the people I want to bless, and the great riches I want to obtain lies dormant outside of my comfort zone and in taking risks is the only way I can reach my own desires. Taking the risk in launching my own photography/ videography business started two years ago from an idea when I was in my senior year of college facing the hardships of graduation and financial imbalance. I asked myself the question, “What would happen if I worked for myself as a part time photographer?” It was that question that carved the path of entrepreneurship into my life. Soon after a lot of thinking, planning, and plenty of trial and errors I was able to made my first dollar under my production company YAK Productions. I hosted my very first official photoshoot for one of my colleagues clothing brand and it has been uphill for my business ever since. Taking risks has not only lead me to learning a lot about myself as a person but it has also lead me to make the most money I’ve ever seen and the power in that was that it all began with a single Idea.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Knowing that there is always more to learn, applying it to my personal craft of film, and being able to teach these skills to others is what sets me apart from the rest. I got to where I am today by having faith in god and in my own brand and knowing the worth of my business. I’d faced so many challenges in starting this business and I’m still facing challenges every step of the way. But I learned these challenges whether its financial, legal, or personal challenges allows me to create a stronger foundation for my business for when new hardships arise. Going forward I want the world to know that anything is possible with a plan, faith in god, and in trusting oneself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would have a week of city tours where we would spend a day in each major part of LA from San Diego to Downtown Long Beach, Downtown LA, West Hollywood, North Hollywood, Santa Monica Beach, and Beverly Hills creating a video reel of all of the top events happening that week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want thank my mom, Victor, my spouse Amayah, my close friend Jordin, and everyone else who has been a part of the rise of establishing my production company into what its becoming. I want to thank God himself because if it weren’t for him none of this would be possible.
