Meet Whitney Lauritsen | Podcast host, digital marketing advisor, well-being creator & web3 enthusiast.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Lauritsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Whitney, how does your business help the community?
Much of my work centers around inclusivity, specifically by making everyone feel welcome and valued. It’s common for people to get stuck in the comparison trap and focus on external measurements. Not feeling good enough can lead to shame, depression, loneliness, and other mental health challenges. Many people feel like they don’t fit in because of perceived differences. That’s why I started well-being coaching and created a private community rooted in social safety. The latter is called Beyond Measure, which is a digital space for heart-centered people to connect on a deep level without judgement. My aim is to remind community members that they are worthy regardless of their appearance, career, age, personal life, etc. The world needs more love and acceptance, so I’m trying to offer that up wherever I can.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most proud of the Beyond Measure community, which is something that simultaneously sets me apart from others and brings us together. That project came out of a feeling of not fitting in and being a bit of an outcast in social situations. The road to my professionalism contained a lot of obstacles, mainly around self-esteem. Perceived rejection triggered a lot of insecurity and doubts, and led me down interesting paths of discovery. Some of those confusing low moments gave me clarity about where I wanted to go. My work has often felt all over the place and tangential, but I’ve learned to embrace that because it’s authentic to my personality. Instead of trying to follow the same path as others, I do my best to trust my gut and my heart. I’ve learned that there’s no right way to do things and there are many roads to the same goal. Success looks different to everyone. All these lessons are at the core of Beyond Measure, where people meet where they’re at and accept each other as they are. The best destinations are those that feel welcoming. At the end of the day, don’t we all just want to feel at home?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is simultaneously easy and hard for me. Last year, my sister visited Los Angeles for the first time in 10 years and I came up with an extensive itinerary. It’s hard to narrow it down to a few spots because I love to customize experiences for each visitor! But here are some places that are top of mind: 1. Pura Vita is an Italian restaurant centered around organic, plant-based ingredients. They have something for everyone here (even those with food sensitives). Nice atmosphere, great service, and fair prices for the quality. My favorite dishes are the Carbonara and any of the pizzas. 2. Verve Coffee is one of my favorite cafes. They roast their coffee beans in California and are passionate about their craft. You can choose from interesting milk options (like pistachio), and they have lovely tea too. At each location, the atmosphere is perfect for meetings or studying, and they serve fresh food (baked goods, salads, and sandwiches). 3. For many years, Huntington Gardens has been one of my favorite places to spend the day. It is a beautiful collection of plants from around the world with a remarkable landscape design. There is also an impressive collection of books in their library. Depending on where you’re traveling from, you’ll drive through many parts of Los Angeles to get there. 4. If you’re debating what part of town to visit, it’s hard to beat Santa Monica. You can walk along the ocean on the boardwalk or up on the cliffside. The pier is full of fun with rides, arcades, and restaurants. Third Street Promenade, Main Street, and Montana Ave each have a wide selection of shopping and food. 5. An interesting place with exciting people is Erewhon Market. This is one of my favorite grocery stores because it has a diverse selection of food for any dietary preference. And, the crowd is very LA because it’s common to see celebrities, models, and influencers at any of the locations. If you hang around long enough, you’ll witness some fascinating characters! Be mindful of the prices – Erewhon is known for being expensive, but you can find some affordable items.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The key members of Beyond Measure deserve lots of recognition. Without their participation, that community wouldn’t have much value. I specifically want to recognize LA resident Edmund, SoCalifornians Richie and Nazanin, plus April for their consistency and contributions. They shine bright lights and warm my heart every week.
