We had the good fortune of connecting with Anthony Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, what principle do you value most?
Self-determination. To believe in myself and where I’d like my passion to take me in my career is the driving force when it comes to creating my music.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is an extension of myself. I feel I’m able to visualize the way sound would look within various soundscapes.  I’m always open and looking for new elements to include in my productions and not boxing myself into a specific genre. Experimenting with different styles has made it possible to branch out into many different directions. I’ve released two singles with visuals and before the end of this year I will have released eight more tracks. I’m excited and looking forward to combining all the material into a live performance in 2023. While I’m working on Risca at the moment, I’m also fortunate to be involved as the music director for Aftermarket.

I started out interning at an Indie music label, learning and understanding the components that go into a studio. From there I worked at various music retail outlets. I believe it’s all about staying connected within your sphere. Most of the projects I’ve worked on have come from connections from the past. Always stay humble, Always stay hungry. That’s how I got to where I am today.

Some of the challenges of an artist is finding your identity (one you can be happy with) and staying on the path that truly inspires you. Throughout the years I’ve produced different genres of music which led me to my style today. An important lesson I’ve learned along the way is to figure out a process that works for you and completely trust in it.

Risca is a project in which pieces of music are thoughts and reflections.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d show them the Broad downtown. Then we’d have dinner at Father’s Office. After this we’d meet up with some friends at the Perch rooftop. On another day I’d take them to the Santa Monica Pier or show them around Venice. I’d also see if some of the venues here in Los Angeles like the Shrine, Fonda or Palladium have anything worthwhile to check out.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my close producer group that I’ve met through music related ventures. They’ve been there when I need a second opinion on composition, songwriting, and production.  I appreciate them taking the time out of their busy schedules to support me.
