We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Lyons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is consistency. Consistency first and foremost with myself. In how I take care of myself and nourish my heart, mind, soul and body daily. Next, consistency with my business both online and in person with my clients. My YouTube team and clients all depend on me to show up every day and each day they know exactly who they are going to get and what to expect from me, our conversations and workout together. I am dedicated to not only help my clients an online community get strong but I want them to feel good and proud of who they are after our interactions.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Well, I am a personal trainer and I unexpectedly started my business when I left a studio I had been at for nearly 5 years. Leaving was an incredibly hard decision because of the bonds I had built with the clients. To my surprise, when I left, I had so many people reaching out to continue training that my only option was to start my own business, which was not something I was even considering. That turned out to be THE BEST decision of my life.
The last 5 years, since starting my business, has been beautiful, hard, challenging, full of lesson, joyful and overwhelming. Everything depends on me **Insert overwhelming feeling here! But the best part, I am in full control of how I manage my business which also feels exhilarating! At times I feel like Wonder Woman being a single mom, running my own business and expanding into the online community but trust me there are also times that I question “what the heck am I doing” and “can do really do this?” When those thoughts creep up I remind myself that I am doing it, I am living my dreams right now and there is nothing that could possibly stop me. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain, if something doesn’t work as planned, pivot and try again.
As far as what sets me and my business apart from others, Vulnerability. I show up vulnerably and authentically in everything I do and with everyone I encounter. Holding that space for myself has allowed me to have more compassion and love for others thus being able to hold safe space for my clients to show up and giving them the freedom to be exactly who they are with me. My training is so much more than programming and building strength – trust me it is a lot of that – but there is trust, safety and love in ever session. We, together, are growing mentally, emotionally, spiritually and physically.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Best Friend Itinerary
Sunrise Hike at Griffith Park
Vegan food at Smorgasburg LA
Walk through the Arts District, coffee at Boxx Coffee Roasters
Skateboarding on Venice boardwalk – stopping to put our toes in the sand and let the sun kiss our faces!
Walking Abbot Kinney – grabbing a slice of pizza at Gjelina Take Away
Road Trip to Joshua Tree for hiking – my favorite hike, the Arch Rock Trail
Drive to Palm Springs to lounge by the pool for a couple of days at Saguaro Hotel. Can’t forget to get food at Chef Tanya’s (vegan of course)
Head to Long Beach to eat at Seabirds, one of my favorite vegan restaurants
This would be the most ideal week with my best friend!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to my 5 year old son, Jackson. He is my north star, my shining light. He is the reason I wake up and work so hard to create a life that we get to inspire and encourage so many people. He is by my side while I film, train and create. His light touches so many lives, I am honored to have him by my side in this lifetime.
The other dedication goes out to all of my clients who have been by my side and encouraged me to keep growing through the years. Especially during the pandemic, they never once doubted what we had together. Those were the moments when we turned from client/trainer to family – bonded for life and filled with so much love.
