Meet Shailyn Daniels | Recording Artist and Model

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shailyn Daniels and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shailyn, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
This question is interesting because honestly, I didn’t choose an artistic or creative career. I feel like it chose me. I tried other careers and paths but it always lead me back to music. Whether I was being artistic with my career or as a hobby to distract me from reality, art is my therapy. Music is what I turn to when reality hits and I need an outlet. Choosing to make that a full time career was daunting but that’s where God was leading me and when you have that clarity, the choice is easy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an R&B recording artist and I am so proud of the hard work I’ve put in. I’ve learned what goes into a complete album, performances, wardrobe, etc and it is so much more than I ever expected. I’m proud of the fact that I just released my first album called Artistic Therapy and I never let my creative light dim. I’ve learned that there will be things that go wrong but when God has his hands on it, everything that needs to go right, will. I want the world to know that being a creative is one of the hardest jobs and with the world doubting you, you have to want it 1000% in order to succeed.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Seattle so for me, the places I would take them are Pike Place market to get fresh fish, snacks and knick knacks. I’d also take them to ezells chicken. They have some of the best fried chicken and it’s only a Western Washington spot! For Gluten free fried chicken I’d take them to heaven sent chicken in Seattle as well!
For me, I’m also a huge WNBA fan and support so we would finish the week by going to climate pledge arena for a Storm Basketball game!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family deserves all the credit in this one. Some families don’t think music is a full time job but my family always supported me. They help fund studio time, albums, gas to get to the studio, etc. They also listen to every song I come home with and sometimes the songs when they’re still in their raw, written stages and give feedback. My family has come to every event and they get excited to see me do my passion. Not only that, but they push me. They know how far I want to go in the industry so they don’t let me fall short. My family is my rock because without their support, I would not be this far.
