We had the good fortune of connecting with Mattie Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mattie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to start my own business to have something for me. I’ve always had the urge to have a business of my own. It wasn’t until after I had my third baby that I was ready.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My aesthetic is warm and emotional. I believe my gift is to be able to tell lifes most valued stories through my lens. I am most excited to continue to peel back the layers of my creativity. In my opinion, it takes bravery and a lot of vulnerability to share your creative work.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When company comes to town, my favorite thing to do is introduce them to our home town, McKinney, Tx. First stop is the Downtown McKinney square. We have the best shops, food and antiquing around. There is so much character and charm, its adorable. Then, we would head over to Harvest Seasonal Kitchen for dinner and drinks. Our last stop would be the one and only Tupps Brewery. They have THE BEST craft beer and the most fun atmosphere ever! obsession is an understatement.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be able to accomplish my goals without the generosity and support of my family and friends. Opening a business when your FIRST job is caring for your three young children is NOT an easy feat. My husband has been my number 1 supporter throughout this process. He doesn’s miss a beat. not to mention, he enjoys the extra cahs flow with me! incentive, right?!?! My Mom and Dad have had a huge hand in helping keep me afloat financially and in support of my family. My Dad recently retired after working his way up to owning a very well established company. He is brilliant and has so many wonderful ideas.
My Mother is a literal saint sent from the Heavens for us to enjoy here on earth. I blame her for my creativity. She is HILARIOUS, beautiful and the most loving soul you’ll ever have the pleasure of meeting.
My AWESOME army of friends have listened to me gab about my nonsensical ideas. They fully support all of my wild endeavours. They lift me up when I’m down, congratulate me when I do something cool and take the time to show me ways to work smarter not harder.
My sister, who manages projects for a living, has helped show me how to stay organized and focused.
When ‘they’ say it takes a village, it literally takes a village.
I would NOT be able to do what I’m doing without these amazing and wonderful people in my life.
