We had the good fortune of connecting with Lee Coc and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lee Coc, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I’m a risk taker. I’d rather look back and say “I tried”, instead of looking back and saying “what if?”. The risk I took leaving my hometown and state with no guarantee or promise heading to a new state like CA and new city like LA was big. I didn’t even have the money to relocate and I had 3kids and a chick with me. No job, no idea on what rent would be was crazy. I did it though. I didn’t even have a plan a much less a plan b. All I knew was I need to make a change in my lifestyle and I knew I wanted to be an artist and I had to be somewhere where I had a bigger chance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m an actor, rapper and model from Houston TX. I moved to LA to pursue music and to get out of the streets and I ended up in Hollywood w/ an opportunity to join James Franco’s Studio 4. I feel like right off the bat behind in LA my work ethic, hustle and drive set me apart from all my competition and peers. A lot of people move to LA everyday and there is a lot of talent from all over the world in this town. A lot of people these days want I start results and tend to wanna emulate the end result rather than emulate the process. That’s what first of all set me a part. I always been a hard worker, hustler and competitor and it played a big role in my success today. I had a lot of challenges. I came out here w/ a family and young kids so financially, that alone is a huge challenge in itself because of the cost of living in LA. Not to mention balancing the family life but still trying to maintain and work towards having a successful career in acting and music. As a creator you gotta find time to creat and make time when it isn’t there. Paying for acting school every month was tough when I could barely pay my rent and groceries and living expenses but I made sacrifices. At times I worked 3 jobs and Uber’d w/ out a listened just to make ends meet. The thing I always did was I kept hustling, working and grinding on my craft in and out of school so that I could perfect it. I’d be exhausted and finishing class at 10pm but I’d still constantly bug students to rehears. I didn’t party or waste time sleeping I’d rehearse Acting till midnight, than hit the studio and work on music til 4 or 5 am then be home by 6am to sleep for an hour just to start getting 3 kids ready for school and than start my day. I def sacrificed a lot of sleep and a social life in order to make time to perfect my craft and to keep creating.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first thing I would always recommend for anyone weather it’s fam, friends, strangers Or anyone would be The Hollywood LA tours in Hollywood at 6507 Hollywood Blvd LA CA 90068. It’s a great company The view from the Hollywood is spectacular of LA then the best was the drive through the seeing all the glitz and glam of Hollywood and the celebrity homes and movie locations it left such an impression on me. They take you around Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip and the parts of LA that are magical. I would also highly recommend the beaches, Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu, NewPort, Huntington and my personal favorite Redondo. Some of my favorite places to eat are Gracias Madrid an all vegan Mexican restaurant, TAO, Beauty & Essex and the Rooftop at Mama’s Shelter. You def gotta have Fat Burger and King Taco if you’re craving some good fast food. Downtown LA and LA Live is amazing and if you’re in to Hiking you gotta do Runyon Canyon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
S/O to my acting coach Matthew Snyder for believing in me when no one else did!
