We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Girlz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly Girlz, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
Holly Girlz responses:

🔹Taia’s response:

I’ve been fortunate to be raised in a family that stresses the importance of spiritual development and makes sure it’s at the forefront of our lives. This cultivation is regularly tested and strengthened through problem-solving life’s challenges, which includes figuring out how to move forward when you’re unsure of what lies ahead. For us, deep meditation and reflection are a saving grace in determining our next moves. It helps with gaining clarity towards affirming that our deepest desires aren’t simply dreams, but part of our destiny. When your ultimate goal is your life’s destiny, there’s no such thing as giving up. A goal you want becomes something that you need to accomplish, and in turn, makes your dreams a reality. You push forward because it’s what you were meant to do, and success is inevitable.

🔹Amsara’s response:

I have learned over time to trust my intuition. Yet, after deep reflection, sometimes I bring my issue to my parents for advice. We do our best to see if our decisions are in alignment with the larger goals we’re trying to accomplish, if it is not, I know I need to pivot. If it is, then I know I’m on the right track. Also, I do my best to assess if the challenge I’m experiencing is a sign that I need to adjust or be more creative in my approach. However, if I had to stop on my forward trajectory I would not view it as a failure, but as part of the process.

🔹Ariana’s response:

Knowing where I see myself going in life and that my goals can be reached, fuels the drive that I feel in my body and spirit. It assures me that there is no need or time for giving up. It would simply be a waste of the blessing of moving to California and being gifted with the talents that we have.

Growing up, I heard the phrase “the sky is the limit” quite often. But, I learned the sky is not the limit. We believe that you can shoot past the clouds and aim for the stars and the outer reaches of the universe if that’s where your heart’s desire resides.

🔹Sanefer’s response:

Growing up in a family that encourages determination, giving up on something didn’t seem to be a choice. However, I learned there’s a difference between giving up on something and coming to the realization that – at times – you simply have to walk away from what possibly isn’t meant for you. Now therein lies the question – “how do I differentiate the two?” – especially when your thoughts feel scattered, leaving you unsure of which path to choose. But at the end of the day, the heart never lies. That gut feeling may be your answer, but you have to calm your heart in order to hear it clearly. Luckily for me, I was raised to practice meditation and consider it a huge factor when faced with making decisions. Meditation allows you to set aside uncertain thoughts and feelings and align yourself with God, to receive your answers. The signs are always there, you just have to quiet your mind and open your third eye to truly see and know when to stop or whether to keep going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We are four sisters and entrepreneurs who sing, act, create digital content, and design our own clothing brand. We specialize in the performing arts but pride ourselves in being multi-faceted creatives, individually and collectively. What sets us apart is that as a family, we strive through our creativity to bring positive and uplifting images and messages to the world. We are currently most excited about our EP that we’re working on. Perseverance has led us to where we are today. It has not always been easy, but the rewards are worth the challenges. A major lesson we’ve learned along the way is to maintain our integrity and stay true to who we are. We want the world to know that we are a part of a creative paradigm shift and we’re just getting started.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First, we would take them to the Getty Museum and Griffith Observatory for the quintessential tourist experience, as well as Lemeirt Park for a dose of culture. We would also take our friends to Comfort LA for some good eats, then to Mama Shelter LA for a rooftop view of the sunset and great vibes. When it comes to events, we would take them to SoulfulofNoise, and My First Fridays. In addition, we’d have to top it off with a quick trip to Manhattan Beach, to experience Bruce’s Beach, historically a once-thriving black-owned resort area for African Americans.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We want to give a huge shout-out to our parents, Obi and Carla “Amenika” Holly!

Without their belief and support in us, we wouldn’t be who and where we are. We are eternally grateful for them.
